Day - 81

Kept my alaram for 5.30am, but  guess i'm running out of motivation... stopped my alaram and went back to sleep... woke up again at someone else's instigation and went for the jog, did my usual 2.7kms... feeling too much of wear and tear in my body not sure the reason... had dosa for breakfast and lunch... dinner will be fruits... probably couple of oranges... but by afternoon started getting back ache stiff back and stiff neck and shoulders... this is a serious concern... have to get some rest and be in a good shape for sunday... have to collect my bib for sunday event.... planning to go in sometime.... Happy Thanks Giving to all the spambots hitting the blog and to any real people who might stumble on to this page (which i'm sure doesnt happen at all) ... I've got a lot to be thankful for... Finally being able to do something i've wanted to do for along time is definitely the primary thing.... now hoping to be better in a couple of days to run my 10k in an international marathon... 90mins.... thats the target now...

Day - 80

Entry for 11/27/2013 --- Breakfast 2 puffs. No running... Lunch Biryani, a spiced rice and chicken dish...2 teas in the afternoon had a lot of work and was feeling sleepy so needed 2 teas... Dinner an apple and 2 oranges... will run again tomorrow

Day - 79

Entry for 11/26/2013 --- Woke up at 5.30am after a very bad dream, went for the jog, Updated the blogs, Ran only 1.5kms... ankles started to show signs of pain so stopped... Dont remember what all i ate didnt anything abnormal except for some rice in the afternoon... carbo loading for sunday...

Day - 78

Entry for 11/25/2013 ---- When i slept last night, the effects of the rides were still present, I was feeling the effects in my sleep as well... couple of times I may have fallen out of my bed ... ha ha ha just kidding... the effects were the though, i was in my sleep still feeling like i am riding on the roller coaster... through out the day, i felt dizzy and my head was kind of spinning... body is settling down no severe pains as such, but there is still soreness in my body... tried out new shoes to office, ate puffs, chips, a sandwhich and chinese food for dinner... not good for the experiment... have to get back on track from tomorrow will check my weight tomorrow... it rained today, and it was pouring down like hell... i had to do some walking in the rain to get to my dinner appoinment ... but it was worth it... new shoes ruined :( ... they are supposed to be water proof, but they are cheap shoes so not sure if that promise would hold up or not... washed them and left them to dry lets see what happens to them... will jog tomorrow, little anxious to do after so many days... lets see how my ankles react... looking forward for a good sleep...

Day - 77

Entry for 11/24/2013 ---- Woke up at 5.30am... no jogging, going for a team outing today... And boy did i enjoy the roller coasters.... did all 4 of them which were there in that park.... the pure rush of blood and adrenelin is unimaginable... my head is still spinning after 2 days... It was an awesome experience... did few more rides like Dare 2 Drop, kind of a free fall ride, guess its called the superman jump in some parks... enjoyed the day... was on my feet all day, so good workout as well... except for some headspinning and sore body everything else is cool... feeling amazing... I guess this is the closest anyone can get to flying if they are not superman or his girlfriend... one of the best days in the recent times... had to travel today on some important thing, but had to cancel it bcoz of some unforeseen circumstances... either way feeling great... got home very very late slept around 3am... so no jogging tomorrow as well...

Day - 76

Entry for 11/23/2013  --- Woke up late... but got up around 9am, had made some plans to go out for some shopping with friends... so went out, ate out the whole day, so there was lot of stuff i ate which i shouldnt have eaten... but roamed around a lot... walked around the whole day... Bought my self a new pair of shoes... a new hard drive.... and swimming Gear !!!!! If my ankle doesnt settle down will start swimming soon... even will alternate between swimming and jogging... planning to do swimming for fun... i wanted to learn swimming for a long time, but never could begin... So lets see how that goes... Ankle is better... but no jogging yet... have a team outing tomorrow, so have to wake up very early... going to an amusement park, never been on a roller coaster, so looking forward to this...

Day - 75

Entry for 11/22/2013 --- No jogging, ankle is a little better but not in the best shape yet... walking continues... register for 10k on 1st december... probably will go for jogging from tomorrow... lets see... slept late last night... food... had nothing for breakfast as i wokeup late... lunch had 3 thick flat bread made of flour in a tandoor with mutton curry... evening some puffed rice with some spices... Dinner 3 very very thin flat bread with mix veg curry... Got home very late... sleeping very late...

Day - 74

Entry for 11/21/2013 --- Didnt go jogging...need some more rest... not sure why but my body is asking for rest... or its asking for rest but in reality is just being lazy... changing shoes from tomorrow, wearing old shoes i used to run with earlier... today has been a bbit of disaster in terms of food... had an omlet for breakfast... Lunch... had 3 flat bread, with rice and 2 veg curries... dinner was trying to settle down for an apple but ended up having a dinner after some interesting conversations and strange turn of events... anyway slept very very late... so no jogging tomorrow as well...

Day - 73

Entry for 11/20/2013 --- For some reason my body still feels tired when i take my usual walk around the office. Didnt go for jog today, slept well, but i still feel a little tired not sure the reason... And the cold and Throat Infection arent helping either.... anyway no jogging today, usual office and work... Not sure if i mentioned this earlier in other entries, but everyday evening i take a couple of rounds around the office, just normal slow walk... probably i cover about 2kms... so i get a feel for my ankle everyday... i know its much better now, but the sleepy feeling is still there so wont be going for jogging tomorrow as well... ok food

Breakfast  -- Nothing, was asleep till 11am.
Lunch       -- 3 flat bread with chicpeas in a gravy and an orange juice
evening     -- had three small dosa
Dinner       -- glass of milk and an orange

No jogging, but no big screwups in food... Will rest again tomorrow...

There is a marathon in my city on December 1st... registered for 10k and got a couple of other heavy kids ;) from my team also to register... so it will be fun... just hoping that my ankles dont throw me a surprise in the next 2 weeks... So will start my practise runs from day after tomorrow onwards... target this time is to complete in 90mins... fingers crossed....

Day - 72

Entry for 11/19/2013.... Getting back on track, updated the blog for the earlier days... Didnt jog today... Day seemed so lousy without the morning jog... anyway, my legs hurt a little... not sure why this sudden change... wokeup at 8am and had to do something like i explained in my last entry.... did that this morning, Happy to have done it... but just hope i didnt bother my friend too much with the news... it didnt seem so, but its hard to read a woman, specially if she is a strong independent and free thinking woman and believe me such woman knows what you are going to say even before you say it. Anyway we are still friends and thats what i care about...So food...

Beakfast  --  An apple
Lunch      --  3 and a half flat bread with mix veg curry
Evening   -- 2 teas
Dinner     --  Musk Melon Juice and dosa

Not running tomorrow also... still feel tired and drowsy, got a bit of cold and throat infection... seasonal change always does this... will rest well tomorrow may be i can run the day after... i hope to...

Day - 71

Entry for 11/18/2013   ----  The day after the big jog and the fat meal... mixed emotions and stiff limbs and a appeased stomach.... thats how i would define this morning... had to fight myslef to get out of bed... some part of me was telling me to rest for today specially after that big jog and ankle pains... but i had to go, yesterday's dinner was so big... so i went, the moment i strted running, i knew i was in trouble. Both my knees and ankles were hurting, but i cant stop running not after that dinner... so i kept going for 1km then my knees settled down, ankles still pain a little specially the right one which used to be my strong one earlier... anyway ran till my usual point of 2.7kms, was seriously considering continuing the run against my better judgement when a street dog started chasing me.... so i had to stop running and engage in a stare down with the dog to keep it down... it almost growled (seriously not even barked it growled at me or my be it was just the Adrenalin in me at the time) and made me stop. And i thank it for that... long live street dogs... :) :) ... otherwise i would have continued to run and probably hurt myself... anyway the pain in ankles seems a little troubbling so i will not run tomorrow, will try to allow my body to heal and rest... Ok food

Morning -- Orange
Lunch     -- When ever i have limb pains, i turn to mutton so had mutton curry with 4 flat bread made in tandoor, i should have stopped at the second flat bread... again small guilt here...
Evening  -- 2 teas, was feeling sleepy so had to have some tea to keep my self awake and do the work
Dinner    --  An orange

All in all an okay day... Decided to do something important tomorrow, and may be a little foolish as well, but might as well do it than to regret for the rest of my life... been thinking about doing it for a while, but was doubtful of risking a friendship that i value... but i guess u need to honest with any friend of great value, so will do the same and hopefully dont drive them too mad... hopefully...

Day - 70

Entry for 11/17/2013 --- Woke up at 5:00am, couldnt sleep well last night, was excited and looking forward for the big run... 2 days without running and 4 days of feeding or bad eating... so kept my targets high today... first kilometer difficult as usual... then after 3kms had a serious thought of giving up the run, but the guilt of 4 days drove me foorward... kept going and going and going... all in all i ran close to 8kms in just over an hour... my T-shirt was soaking in sweat... stopped after 8kms because my right ankle along with my left ankle started paining around the 6km mark and they couldnt take anymore after 8kms... so i stopped, walked back 3kms to my home... so all in all a very good day... found some surprising things today, after 5 to 6kms your body doesnt get tired very easily, your breathing is so relaxed... if only i can build strength in my legs and limbs i can clearly run a long distance.... may be even a half marathon... but first lets not get ahead of ourselves... lets just try to run a 10k first, i havent done that yet... and need to make sure i dont hurt my self in the next few days... but very happy with today... ok food

Had about 400ml of milk an hour after the run...
11:00am had a mixed fruit juice
Lunch an orange and a pear
Dinner  --- Family day at office, so its an annual feast and the beast in me came out raging across the buffet, devouring everything in its path... so today is a lost cause... despite of all i have done this morning, the day ends on a bad note...

i guess this meal alone will be in excess of 3000calories... that 30kms of running :(((( .... I'm sure my weight will be back to 100 now... 70% of the experiment ends on a bad note...

Day - 69

Entry for 11/16/2013   ---  Okay Another day of excuses and made up hurdles... slept late again, so didnt get up in the morning... so no jogging... Had to do some shopping, so went out with friends in the morning, had a Veg Roll with Garlic veg balls, not a good choice, but so i have been for the past couple of days... did all the shopping, skipped class in the afternoon watched a movie, in the intermission ate popcorn and chicken nuggets again bad judgent, then did some grocerries shopping then had a simple dinner of 2 flat breads, yellow lentil stew called Dal and mix veg curry... Hoping for a big sunday run..lot of guilt  and weight builing up inside... have to sweat some of it tomorrow...

Day - 68

Entry for 11/15/2013 --- Didnt run... was feeling lazy and pissedoff with the way things have been going... not sure what i'm thinking but days are going on and I'm losing control... didnt eat anything in the morning, afternoon there was a big party boss's b'day and 4year anniversary in this company... so again big big lunch... didnt eat anything in the night, just had some butter milk... not in a mood to update the blog also after so much mess cant write again about the day... will update after a couple of days...

Day - 67

Slept at around midnight and wokeup at around 5.45am... Its cold outside so its getting hard to wake up... feel so lazy... after a few mins of lazing on my bed... got ready and went for the jog... Same as everyday rusty and out of breath for the first km. From 1km to 2kms things were looking bright... Then my left ankle started to peekout everynow and then reminding me of its presence like a meercat peeking out of its hole... also both my ankles started to hurt for some reason... this is the first time this is happening... I continued till the 3km mark, took me 25mins... then after a while of walking everything seemed normal again... just hoping not to get into an injury of some sort... Not a good morning succeding a not much better of a day... Food

Breakfast    -- 2 eggs and 6 exteremely thin (almost half of the thickness of a normal bread slice) pieces of whole wheat bread... bread and raw eggs melanged on a hot pan with some salt and red  chilli powder.

Lunch         --  Here is where things started to fall apart... I'm back into my rotten routine... went outside ate flat bread, chicken in a gravy and a rice dish called Biryani... though only some rice, still   rules broken...

In-Between--  Another disaster... lot of people coming to back to office after the year's biggest festival, lot of sweets on the floor, Today is Boss's b'day, his 4year anniversary so again sweets... Such forced/implied social interactions cause me to get off track... and i did today

Dinner       --  Not in a mood to eat anything, disappointed with the way the day went on... I have to    introspect on few things and really get my shit together and focus... Well what do u know... I went out and had dinner... there was a fire drill an hour before my shift ended, and had to evacuate the building, and the team went for dinner... i just ate chicken pieces and nothing else...

Checked my weight again after these 3 days of Feeding... it still is at 96... better get my act together before it changes for the worst... also need to be careful with the run and take it a little easy... an Injury would destroy all the hardwork of last 2 months... Need to focus more ... Need to focus...

Day - 66

Slept around 00.30 last night... and had to wake up at 5.30 today... i screwed up big time yesterday so had to make up for it... so with some laziness and difficulty finally got my self out of the bed around 5.45am... got ready and went for the jog... its getting pretty cold in the morning and i didnt jog yesterday and things were looking a little uncertain... i was out of breath soon after i started my jog... had to struggle a lot to just stay afloat for the first kilometer... then things seemed to settele down... after my usual 2.7kms i was pretty tired but yesterdays sins kept me going... very slowly and with very tired body i dragged my self till the 3km point, then my 3rd best of 4km point... now the starting point was very near, but my left ankle started bothering me... still I kept at it and by 40mins reached my start point, then jogged for 200meters more to the begining of my street, which is a little short of 5kms, so took a U turn again, ran around 200mtrs, then another U turn and 200mtrs back to the begining point of my street... So all in all easily more than 5kms... My second best distance till date... Happy with the run... but left ankle and right knee hurt for some time but the pain soon vanished... Hope it doesnt creep up again in tomorrow's run... slept for a couple of hours after the jog, then got to office for a training... all in all ran for 45mins by the end of it i was drenched in sweat... i love the feeling of being drenched in sweat.... tells me that i have done something right that day... this is my second best time as well... Ok Food...

After the jog  --  A few drops of Honey and water
Breakfast       --  2 soft boiled eggs, little bit of salt and red chilli powder
Lunch            --  My ride got me to office pretty late, so was getting late for a training, so only had an
                           orange juice
Evening         --  Had something called as a Egg Paratha. Which is a stuffed flat bread, stuffing consisted
                           of hard boiled egg white cut into small pieces.
Dinner           --  2 parathas (1 chicken, 1 potato) the same stuffed flat breads with different stuffings

So dinner got a little heavy which is very bad... i guess tomorrow's jog has to really count... and I need to get back on track and that too very quickly.... got to stop scrweing around otherwise i will put back those 4kgs....

Day - 65

Slept at around 10.30pm, and kept my alarm at 5.30am... but boy when i wokeup at 5.30am i was delirious and disoriented... fought so hard with my self to get out of bed, but my eyes were burning and my body was telling me stay down... i had no pains anywhere, guess its just the fatigue and the sleepless ness... after fighting with it for 45mins, i gave up... i had to get back to my sleeping, my body was adamant... slept will 11.00am... thats a long long sleep of more than 12hrs... felt really fresh when i woke up... i guess a day of missing jogging didnt bother me too much, coz it felt so great to wake up knowing you cant sleep anymore that day, no matter how hard you try... So got to office... no breakfast... food

Breakfast  --  Nothing, busy sleeping
Lunch       --  Didnt eat anything since last evening, so was hungry. Had 5 flat bread, Spinach and Corn
                      curry and Ridge Gourd curry
Evening    --  Was happy and went little crazy and had a piece few sweets and snacks... none in big
                    quantity, I guess it was just an act of celebration...a little unnecessary... anyway its done now.
                    Also had something called as buttermilk, its just yogurt mixed with a lot of water and salt.
Dinner      --  Okay... its officially messed up today... I'm on a rampage... Had spiced rice with Brijal Curry
                      All experiment rules broken today... anyway i'm not too disappointed... that 4kg difference
                      made my day... will be surely back on track tomorrow... Hopefully that 4kg drop doesnt
                      change tomorrow...

Ok here is the pending topic... Weight... Eventhough i mentioned in one of the days out of frustation more than anything else that i want to lose 5kgs in a specific time, i wasnt serious about it... It was something i said in the spur of a moment... I just stuck to my rules from the first post and continued to run... Havent hit any gym as well... i think its foolish to hit a gym without having some basic fitness level... so I wasnt expecting a big change... anyway there was a considerable change I am very glad... I've lost drumrolllllssssss 4kgs .......... I'm just 96 now ;) ... happy with the change.... long way to go still..... Hoping to keep on with this...

Day - 64

Slept early last night around 9.30pm... After a long jog yesterday, was just curious to see how my body would react... Except for some laziness and sleepyness everything else was fine... Had to force my self to go for the jog... The thing with me or few runners out there is, Once we do a big run, we feel like we deserve some rest or celebration ritual... I wanted to get out of this loop, so i kept my yesterday like any other Sunday... I had to jog today to keep this day as usual as it can be... Also there isnt any pain in my legs, so i didnt see any point of resting or celebrating... So i started my jog with that rusty feeling in the limbs... Breathing is getting difficult to control, one reason is the cold weather, not sure what other reasons could be there... Have to open my mouth every now and then, much frequently than previous days... So i ran with some breathing difficulty but my rhythm was good, i was able to run for 34mins and 4kms... my 3rd best distance... was happy that i could do this after a big jog... So i guess i can do one big jog everyweek... will try to hold my 6km distance in the coming week... got a surprise gift from someone... it was a very nice gesture.... hadn't received any gift in a long long time... infact dont remember the last time i got a gift... ok food...

After the jog...  Ate 2 small chocolates (were part of the gift), no guilt here ;) ;)

Breakfast   --- Moseli corn flakes in milk and honey
Lunch        --- 3 flat bread with Brinjal simply cooked into a mash and a Tea.
Evening     --- 3 hard boiled eggs
Dinner       --- not hungry

Got home very early from work... going to sleep soon... been a good day.... hope to run well tomorrow.... will check my weight tomorrow and post it... should be a small change... lets see... GN

Day - 63

Entry for 11/10/2013.... Ok got to say one thing before i start... Yesterday night when i was eating rice, after the first serving of small quantity of it.... i felt like i had enough... which is unusual because where i come from  we eat rice for lunch and dinner and sometimes even for breakfast... it felt like my stomach had become smaller ( i know that isnt true ;) ..at all)...... anyway i tried a second serving, but couldnt eat it... so had to throw it...so i guess my capacity to eat had reduced a little, I guess thats pretty good news.... anyway woke up at 5.00am... stomach still feels a little full, i guess full stomach the night before isnt a good idea... not atleast for me... The same thing happend on Oct 6th... anyway went for the jog... struggled with breathing and vomitting sensation throughout the run... But it was the big run and i ate a lot of carbs yesterday so had to justify it through my run... So I kept at it, after 5kms, I was closing my eyes and opening them every now and then... felt like i might passout... but that was just for the briefest moment... then it all settled down and i ran some more... All in all Ran 6kms in 51mins... then walked for 7 kms more... total of 13kms took me 130mins... thats 6kms/hr average speed... I'm pretty happy with today... did my best distance and time by far.... Enjoyed the run... First time did 10km or more after oct 6th... Felt great... no pains of any sort... went for my class in the morning after the run... Food..

Evening       --  Again Dosa
Dinner         --  An apple

Been an amazing day... kept myself physically active till afternoon... then was at home only, mostly taking rest.... just hope not to get any leg pains tomorrow morning and hope i can continue my run tomorrow.... Been a pretty good day after a couple of not so good days.. Finally redemption .... Its almost like a 3 act Screenplay... Pains... Path to Well Being... Straying from the path... and Finally Redemption... The End... Only here its not the end... its just another day... Got a surprise today... a pleasant one.... Hope i can return the gesture at some point... Its just nice to have people around you who are so much like u.... This is a day to remember....and Remember, I will....

Day - 62

Had a huge fiasco yesterday... forgot the keys to my home inside my house, so when i got home at 11pm, i had no keys, so went back to office got the keys from my room mate, and by the time i got home, it was 1.30am... slept around 2.30am... wasnt in any mood or shape to run... so didnt run today... slept well, took a lot of rest till afternoon, then went to my class... Planned to do a 10k today but the incident last night ruined it all... also ate some sweets last night after getting home...

Food today...
Breakfast  --  Nothing, just had some honey and water...
Lunch       --  Ate the remaining sweets... i dont know what the heck i was thinking... u r mind make upall kinds of feel good reasons when it wants to eat... mine was tomorrow u r doing a 10k so must eat...

Evening     --  Had a fruit juice, and a veg puff

Dinner       --  Reason here Carbo loading--- ate Rice, spinach and lentil stew called Dal...

So huge disaster in the name of a 10k.... so have to go tomorrow for sure... Bit of a bad day i guess... Feeling a little down...

Day - 61

So here we are into the last 40% of my experiment... Slept around midnight last night... wokeup at 5.15... After lazing around for 15mins, got ready and went for the jog... Wanted to take things slow today, as i was coming back from a rest day... There was a sense of unmotivated approach to my preparation today, so that pissed me off a little... So i got to my starting point, and ran my usual distance of 2.7kms and went 50mtrs further than the normal stopping point.. took me 21mins... Was in a good shape at this point but stopped myself... Not sure I should have pushed my self a little more or be happy with this laid back run... but it sure was difficult to run today... specially the first km, felt very rusty all over my body... anyway looking for a better tomorrow...

Food

Breakfast   -- Just some honey and water
Lunch        -- Had a big lunch... went outside office campus for lunch... 4 thick flat bread made in a special
                      oven called Tandoor... with Mutton curry and an egg... Not a very bad choice, atleast serves
                      well interms of protine needs, but it was heavy. Also Mutton is believed to be good for
                      limbs, so i guess its okay. Had a buttermilk, which is nothing but Yogurt and water with salt.
Evening    -- Tea, a very small piece of sour bun sandwiched with little bit of cream
Dinner      -- Will update later, probably an apple...

Few more troubles of the heart... trying to find a way to overcome... Been a productive day of writing... wrote couple of things and posted one on my other blog... The second one is a bit over the top, so not sure if i want to publish it...  Tomorrow looks good for a long run... lets see how it goes...

Day - 60

It feels a little weird to take a rest day... but rest days are as important as running days... Need to observe them with same seriousness... So slept around 00.15 last night, woke up at 9am, but stayed in bed lazing around till 10.00am... then got ready for office... Wrote some interesting write-up on Humans and Perfection and sent it across to a couple of friends who are into this sort of thing... One of them replied with some interesting questions and we discussed over a long long email about this topic and other related ones... bit of a serious stuff... Discussed in general about writing with another friend for quite sometime... so was an interesting day with interesting conversations... Felt nice to have some like-minded people around... I guess I did a good thing by starting this blog, it helps me think about things to write about during my run, thereby it keeps me distracted from the distance still to be covered, Whenever I am about to eat something bad 2 things pop up in my mind... Eating this would ruin the efforts of my run this morning and I have to write about it in the blog... It’s almost like a catholic confession... that’s what my blog is sometimes i guess... Anyway it’s helping in controling my urge to fill that black hole inside my stomach... one of the reasons why I haven’t given up on my experiment like i usually do every time, seems to be this blog... Except for some spam bots which keep hitting my blog as referral sites, there aren’t any real viewers of this blog, may be except for 4 of my friends...  So I'm glad i started it... Ok food...

Breakfast     --  Omelet, 2 eggs, some salt and Red chilli powder
Lunch          --  3 flat bread with kidney beans in a gravy
Evening       --  Had a Dosa (the lentil, rice flower pancake... everything else available was oily )
Dinner         --  Evening Dosa i had was around 7.30pm so wasnt hungry, so didnt have anything else.. Had something called as a paan... Its a beetle leaf stuffed with a lot of different things...

One of the things I forgot to mention is for the past 3 days, I have been taking some honey (may be 10gms) after I brush my teeth... then I drink some water... Don’t think this will make any difference, but I like honey so it will continue... I feel light on my feet these days also my cloths tell me that I lost weight... I have checked it once, there is a difference in my weight, but I want to confirm one more time, before i tell myself that I’ve lost weight... so withholding that information for now...

Day - 59

Slept late as usual... around midnight... Woke up at 5.15am, went for the jog... feeling a little discomfort in my body, not sure why... i only walked yesterday... anyway... started my jog with the rusty feeling in my limbs, pushed forward after a kilometre things settled down, but i knew my energy reserves were very low... So kept my pace low. Winter is kicking in, the good thing with winter is sun doesn't come up until 6.30am and i love running in the twilight... but the bad thing is that the air is thick and breathing needs extra effort. Today felt this effect clearly, had to breath quite a few times with my mouth... So after completing 2.7kms, i wanted to go further... so i went up to my 3rd best point, which is nearly 3.8kms... So finished that, then stopped my run. By now i was exhausted, This was the most exhausting run till date. So i guess I'm due for a rest day. Might just get some rest tomorrow and sleep well.... OK Food...

Breakfast  -- An Apple
11.30am    -- A Tea
Lunch        -- 3 flat bread with chickpeas in a gravy. Few raw carrots
Evening     -- Upma ( semolina flour snack)
Dinner       -- An Orange

Not a bad day at all... Couple of cracks in this good day, During lunch got tempted and had 4 thin pieces of shallow fried potatoes. Before dinner had about 10gms of a sweet. Other than this no other distractions. Not proud of them, but couldn't control... Had to work a lot in last 2 days.... so will take rest tomorrow... GN

Day - 58

Woke up at 5.30am... slept at around midnight last night... so not a lot of sleep... went for the jog, yesterday while I was doing the 5kms, I noticed some discomfort in my right knee and it popped up a couple of times during the day. So I just wanted to take things slow today, but didn’t want it to be a rest day, so I walked for 6kms. Walked at varying speeds, 6kms took me 70mins, that's roughly 5kms per hour... not too good, but I guess its okay for a slow day. Came back home, slept for a couple of hours.... rushed to office. Now food,

Breakfast      -- Nothing, didn’t have time to eat breakfast
Lunch           -- Faltered a little bit here, was extremely hungry by lunch time, had 3 flat bread, with 
                          Brijal curry, then RICE!!!! Yeah had rice today, little bit of a sweet called Jilebi.

Evening       -- Tea
Dinner         -- 100ml milk with some corn flakes may be 50gms

So bit of a disaster during lunch, had a craving to go out and have some good lunch, but stopped myself that would have been a bigger disaster. Anyway, not an ideal day, but was feeling a little weak of body and heart so lunch was a result of that. Also been under some stress at work and also in personal life... that might be another reason for seeking the comfort of a full stomach..... Anyway need to do a longer run tomorrow to redeem myself to some extent...

Day - 57

Yeeee...haaaawwww.... Woke up at 5.45am... Went for the jog... Was feeling a little down and lazy... didnt feel like i will run for long... Back to my tattered phone, so no running apps. Set up my timer to 35 daunting minutes and started my run..  the rusty feeling in the limbs is still intact during the first kilometer of the run... Ran slow as usual, after 21mins reached my usual 2.7kms mark... This is where it started to get enjoyable... was feeling pretty tired but my breathing was in a good shape and in my control, so pushed forward... pushed for a uphill climb that comes on my way everyday, after that it was 25mins, wanted to continue atleast till 30mins, by 30mins i reached nearly a good hanlfway back to my starting point, once the 30mins was over wanted to get to a temple on the way, then wanted to reach 35mins, once that was done, i was close to my starting point so wanted to get there :) ... this way with smaller targets in mind, i ran both ways and reached my starting point .... Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... But didnt stop there because i wanted to reach the 5km mark, which i missed by 80meters last time... so i kept going to my previous best point and then went 100 meters ahead just to make sure i dont miss the 5km mark this time... All this took a few seconds more than 42mins... So here I am today with my best distance and feeling ecstatic... was in no mood to do 5km today, but it kind of happened and i'm happy that it did... Just walked back and forth in my street (about 500mts or so) to just cool down... some leg pains might creep up by the evening... but i'm very happy... Easily i must have done a 5km run today... will consult my oracle-the google maps in some time... Didnt eat any breakfast, the sweets i had last night continued to haunt me, though a bad choice, skipped breakfast... Work shift has changed so i will be getting home only by 11pm every night, so this will put some pressure on my morning routine... to get into the habit, i slept for a couple of hours then got to office... will follow this same routine everyday from now on... Ok food

Breakfast --- Nothing
Lunch      --- Theree very thin flat bread, with 2 hard boiled eggs and gravy
Evening   ---Tea
Dinner     --- 4 slices of whole wheat bread with jam and some milk

Read an article yesterday, it talks about weight loss and running... Summary is when you are running and want to loose weight through it, you have to create a big enough energy defficincy between your intake and output by keeping your rest hours and other daily activities the same... So will try to control my intake and remember that on an average i'm spending just 100calories per km...No body pains as of now... have to see how it will be tomorrow morning... GN

Day - 56

Entry for 11/03/2013   ----   Wokeup at around 5.45am, went for the jog... wanted to take it slow... so ran just to my usual 2.7km distance... Ran today with a friends Iphone. It had a running app in it... So was able to exactly know few details... The 3km point which i used to assume as 3kms turns out to be 2.7kms... i guess its alright... ok so here are the details given by that app... Its pretty neat... for the 2.7km i took 21mins, with an average speed of 7.6kms per hour, highest speed of 10.2kms per hour... burnt 260 Calories.... thats even less than a coke bottle or a packet of chips i guess... puts things in perspective doesnt it :) .... so i dont need to feel too good about my run everyday... coz at the end of the day, i'm not burning enough fuel... The app showed that my starting and finishing speeds were high and my speed inbetween was less... which i guess is good... it also shows elevations and other things on your path... all in all in reminded me that 20mins of run per day doesnt create high enough enegry deficit... so i need to think of more ways to spend calories... Glad that i did this... ok so food...

Had rice pancakes all day... stopping these from today... Also had an orange today... Also as it was festival day had a couple of sweets... regret having these babies... but hey it was the biggest festival of the year... :)

Will need to do good enough run to burn more calories from tomorrow...

Day - 55

As planned today was the rest day... slept late... and was sleep deprived for a while... so slept till 11.30am today .... wokeup at my usual 5.30am but forced myself back to sleep... Didnt do much... had some writing work... couldnt get on with it... for some reason i couldnt start it... tried all day but it didnt work out... anyway didnt get anything done... took a couple of kilometers walk in the evening... will run again tomorrow... Food....

Had an orange in the morning...
Had about 100 gms of corn boiled in water with some salt and chilli powder
Had the same in the evening
Dosa (the Rice Flour Pancake) in the evening...

Going to sleep now...

Day - 54

Entry for 11/01/2013  ---- Today was special, i did my best distance by far... and i never thought I would be able to do it.... Here is how it all went down... I wokeup at 5.00 am... went for the jog... kept my timer on 35mins, i thought of today but decided to run as lazily as i could and take Saturday as the rest day... So i started my run, with no intention of completing the 35mins... The initial rustyness in my limbs returned today... my run was slow... after i did my usual 3kms (2.8 according to Google maps).... i was feeling good and wanted to go on further... slowly i crossed all my best distance points and kept going... the discomfort in my left ankle kept popping up every now and then but wasnt serious... so slowly i reached the point where i start all my runs from... then i went 100 or 150 meters further...i felt like i could go forever... but was cautious enough to stop before i ran some stupid distance and injured myself... So i stopped and started walking back to my home which is now just 400meters away... the adrenalin rush started to go down, and the pain in my ankle soared high... it settled down after putting it on some ice... so all is good now... and that distance according to google maps is 4.8kms !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not far away from 5km mark... but holding up this distance again would be very difficult for me... so it took me 42mins to finish the 4.8km mark... pretty damn slow, but hey i did better than my best... and thats what running is for me... And i think the Rice flour pancakes did have something to do with the energy i found i had this morning... Okay so 4 days of good runs... i WILL take a rest day tomorrow... It was a traditional day at office... so went in a traditional attire... Food...

Breakfast        ---    A 2egg omlet with some salt and chilli powder and an Orange

Pre-lunch        ---    Tea

Lunch             ---    5 flat bread with Cauliflower (i may have gotten a little carried away with that good run this morning)

Evening           ---   Poha (the flaked rice snack)

Dinner              ---  Met with someone after a while so went for a coffee and i had a milk shake :( ...

The milkshake was sweet, but the discussion went down the sour road.... anyway... Slept a little late... no run tomorrow... got a lot of writing work thats been pending for long... no classes in the weekend, so will finish this work over the weekend hopefully....

Day - 53

Entry for 10/31/2013  --  Woke up at 5.45am... didnt have my alarm on... but i guess the habit of waking up everyday woke me up around my usual time... went for the jog, went pretty late around 6.45am... did my 3km distance, Wasnt in a mood to strain my self as i already did my best distance yesterday... But something interesting today was that my run started at a high pace, not sure why... and i didnt have the usual inertia in my limbs... it was all pretty smooth and ran faster than usual for 1Km or so then went to my normal slow pace... all in all a good run of 3km which took only 20mins... (usually it takes 23 mins)....

Breakfast   -- Had DOSA (made at home, its the Rice and lentils pancake i was planning to stop eating :( )
Pre-Lunch -- Tea

Lunch        -- An Egg sandwich made with a hard boiled eggs, layered between 2 slices of whole wheat bread, and a third slice seperated by boiled corn. No cheese.

Dinner       -- Again Dosa (The Rice and lentils pancake)

Not sure if i want to run tomorrow, been 3 good days of running... thinking about taking a rest day... will decide tomorrow...
