Alright first day of the 30 day challenge... Woke up at 10.30am, Slept at 4am this kind of has become the habit in the last few weeks... need to change this, will try to... Had a breakfast of muesli with milk, went to the gym, ran 2.5kms in 20mins, then cycled for 10mins and covered 6kms... but i dont trust that number, it seems too quick. No swimming as Tuesday is the day of cleaning the pool... lunch 3 flat breads with a mix vegetable curry, one black coffee. Evening had a black coffee and upma. Dinner 1 cucumber, few pieces of carrot and beet root and some of whats called as a Oat Bites ... Went a little overboard with Oat Bites... happy with the day no major slip-ups... hope to keep it going...

The next steps....
Entry for Sep 15th 2014..... Thought of starting the next phase last Tuesday... but as fortune would have it, I fell down from my bicycle, hurt my knee a little, I still cycled to work, but stopped running... Last Saturday went for swim after getting rest for 5 days... Swam 2.5 kms 102 rounds... Sunday went for an outing with friends, and we were playing a game of touch, so there was running involved on a rocky hill and I hurt my ankle a little on an uneven rock... so Monday didn't do anything... ankle is a little heavy will test it tomorrow on the treadmill... So anyway tomorrow on wards will start the regimen again... got my fridge filled with veggies and fruits but the fridge is broken so they are staying out of it... might be a good thing after all... I wont be complacent and will eat them out of the fear of them going bad... so this might just help me out... Blessing in disguise of sorts... Now the next set is for 30 days... this time serious adherence to every rule and no lapses for 30 days... So time to restate the rules again... and 1 year completed since i started this whole thing... after 1 year 10 kg of weight loss, learning to swim, buying my first vehicle -- a Cycle :) :) ... Learning to run long distances, Writing Poems, 2 blogs, 2 videos which were shortlisted to represent the organization i work for and were selected as the top videos in my country both the times... Last 1 year has been rewarding to say the least... Very thankful for it... So here are the modified rules...
- I will not starve myself with weird diet plans...
- Will try to eat as much of Fruits and Vegetables as possible...
- Avoid Rice and Oils, Butter, Cheese etc..
- DO NOT miss breakfast...
- No TEAAAAA....
- Avoid Baked, Fried, Deep Fried food....
- Take smaller portions, but no limit on number of meals... Starving doesn't help....
- Do your 3 normal activities at least 5 days in a week, Running, Cycling and Swimming...
- Record each days activity in the Blog...
- LAST but NOT THE LEAST.... NO MATTER WHAT .... Stick to the Rules...
Lets hope I succeed and be ready for the next 30days... going to attempt my first half marathon after missing the one last month on October 12th .... lets see how that goes... Excited for the next 30days...

Day 161 to 180
Alright this has been long overdue... My laptop charger broke off... so didnt have access to internet for a while... i managed to download the Blogger app in my mobile, but typing into it is difficult... so didnt write it... Got the new charger now, so set to write again.... on 10th did a 10km in a hilly forest area and then got back pain again... 3 weeks of no activity and no running... getting back on track from last week onwards... During the 3 weeks of rest had plenty of food and specially chicken... for some reason, 3 or 4 days of eating chicken helps with back pain... might just be my superstition... anyway been a mixed period of rest and activity... pleasure and pain... kind of fire and ice... here is the list of my activity from daily mile.... i made sure to keep the log up to date... all in all I'm at 90 now... its not going down below... in last week i have increased the activity and started working out on the bicycle machine in the gym... increasing the load on it to go up to a maximum of 20... Will try to update the blog daily from tomorrow on wards... my big downfall in my opinion had been to target a huge number of days... 100 or 180... that made it okay to slip off every now and then from the set rules... i went to a point where i wasnt following the set rules at all... anyway in the last 6 months I've lost some weight... became surprisingly good at swimming... did 15kms twice... missed out on half marathon due to back ache... bought a bicycle moved near to office, gym and pool... hopefully became a lot more fit compared to earlier... planning for a half marathon on october 12th... at the same event where i started running last year... Intensified my regimen in last week... running, cycling in the gym and swimming all one after the other... hoping this would get me the changes in weight that i want... participated in a poetry contest conducted by a local poetry group in this city... my poem was disqualified as i didnt submit a photo which was one of the prerequisites... but they liked the poem and published it on their Facebook page as a special mention... so that was something new... and i wrote it in 3 hours... as i saw it on the last day 3 hours before the closing of the contest... been a nice 9 months or so... not exactly met the weight targets but i am not worried about that... so here is the log... Next target is 30days i want to do it right... so straying this time.. lets see what i can do in 30 days...

Entry for 07/30/2014 -- Slept around 3am yesterday... didnt wake up till 12:15 pm... went to office no running and no swimming... had a lunch of 5 flat breads with sprouts boiled in water and some spices... had 2 teas one in the afternoon and one in the evening... around 8 pm had 4 or 5 small balls of fried black bean dough.... not a smart choice... dinner had 4 flat breads again got sprouts boiled in watery gravy... late night had some dry fruits... going to bed... TV will be off from tomorrow... hoping to get my act together from tomorrow... Lets see how it goes...

Day -- 159
Woke up at 11 am... stupid thing i did last night didnt sleep till 5 am this morning... may be even slept later than 5 am... anyway no breakfast as i woke up late... went to the gym and ran on tread mill... wanted to do the best i could... did 2.5 km in 18 mins... for the first time cranked up the tread mill to 12 km/hr and managed to last for about 3 mins... happy with that... lunch had 2 flat breads some rice, couple of vegetarian curries in very small quantity, some sweet dish... had a tea... evening went to eat something and the cafeteria didnt have anything... so that screwed me... as we had to go out of the office and eat a lot fried snacks... a slip up and that screwed my day... need to keep up my running routine... got a 10 km race coming up on 10th August and my first half marathon on 24th august... if only I can just keep my damn mouth and glutton in control... it would be great... time for bed now...

Entry for 07/28/2014 --- Slept like a baby last night...Slept for 10 hours... no breakfast as i woke up late... went to the gym, did a recovery run on the treadmill... did 2.05 km in 16 mins... went to office had a lunch of 3 flat breads with some vegetarian curry don't remember what it was... had a couple of teas... evening had a 2 egg omelette with some bread... Didn't have any dinner ... came back home... got hungry later on and ate lot of dry fruits... kept watching TV till 5am in the morning next day... stupid thing to do... but somehow it went on this way.... anyway need to get some discipline into my day... will try

Entry for 07/27/2014 --- Here we are the first D day... woke up at 4.45 am... got ready and got to the race location 2 mins late... the crowd doing 10 km, 15 km and 21 km started off before i got there... i started 3 mins late... anyway started with my slow and usual rhythm... the start it self was a up climb... a gradual one thankfully... then there was a down slope and an immediate up slope... i didn't mind it much anyway... i was going pretty well... with usual speed... after 25 mins took a break as i had to empty my bladder which i couldn't do at the beginning of the race as I reached late... then went on with my usual walk run method of running.... there were no markers to indicate the distance completed.... also it wasn't an out and back race for 15 km... so it was difficult to understand how much i had covered... so i didn't know if i was running better than my previous race or not.... at one point felt like i was running more than 15 km... anyway... i did complete the 15 km distance in .... Drum rollllllssssss.... 1 hr 52 min and 44 seconds... so that's 113 mins.... 31 mins less than my previous 15 km race... that is amazing improvement at least for my standards...and the time taken per km was 7 mins and 30 seconds... that's my best speed in any race... couldn't have imagined better stats.... this has clearly gave me a boost to attempt my first half marathon.... I'm very excited about it now... very little leg pains... 15 km didn't feel a lot different than 10 km... so my legs aren't complaining... excellent day to be honest... during the run had water and a couple of bottles of energy drink... after the race was done had 2 bananas... Then got home ate an apple... took rest at home till afternoon... then had a lunch of 5 flat breads with cauliflower boiled in a thin curry sauce, some carrot dry curry and lentil stew.... evening went for a swim... did a slow 40 rounds... felt amazing that i didnt feel any fatigue at all... wanted to eat well in the night... some protein as i normally do after a race... so had 4 pieces of spiced chicken cooked on indirect heat from burning coal... 5 flat breads made of wheat flour... and a mixed veg curry... slept around 11 pm... A great day... really happy... lets see if i can continue...

Entry for 07/26/2014 -- Remember that i slept very late the day before and woke up around mid day... no breakfast... Lunch ordered from a nearby restaurant... ordered spiced fried chicken with rice and lentil stew and few boiled and shallow fried potatoes... heavy lunch for carbo loading... dinner ... wasnt hungry much... so had 3 small pomegranates... plenty of water... before dinner went to the pool just to get some movement in my body that's been resting uselessly for the past 2 or 3 days.... went to the pool and did only 22 rounds or 550 meters... enough to warm me up but not enough to really make me tired... slept around 12pm... excited about tomorrow... my first 15 km run after the one i did on march 30th... that time it took me 144 mins... hoping to do it this time under 120 mins... so that's 8 mins per kilometer...my best speed had been 8.3 mins per kilometer.... lets see how that goes...

Entry for -- 07/24/2014 -- Bad day... was feeling lazy all day... didnt go for running or swimming... ate heavy lunch... bad fried snacks for dinner... watching TV now after recharging it... not sure whats wrong... but i kind of have a feeling in my head... to Hell with all this... i'm sure i would get back to normal tomorrow... sometimes i wonder if i'm bipolar or something... will sleep now...

Entry for 07/23/2014 -- Wokeup around 9am.. went to office at 10.30am.. had a meeting at 12 afternoon... so managed only swimming in the available time, did 40 rounds in 35mins a lil slow... at 12 afternoon had a glass of milk with some normal cornflakes... lunch had 3 flat breads with a boiled chickpea flour dish... its weird i know... had no other option... had 3 teas in the day... had a lot of work pressure... so needed them teas... evening had a rice pancake and half of a mini veg burger... dinner -- had no plans of having dinner, but had to go with someone, so had some friend rice and a small flat bread with cauliflower... not a good day... atleast have got the satisfaction of finishing some long pending work at office...

Day -- 152
Woke up around 10 am... couldnt sleep last night till 2 am... papaya makes weird things happen in my stomach... so had some stomach ache till late night... had to get to office early for a meeting, went to the gym, ran 2.2 kms in 16 mins and 30 seconds... not fast enough... there was a lot of waiting for the tread mill and there is a 15 min limit per person, so had to stop after this, evening around 7.20 pm went for a swim, did 40 rounds in 30 mins... food - no breakfast... lunch 5 flat breads with mix veg curry, beans in spicy thin gravy and lentil soup and a rice based sweet of 3 or 4 tea spoons... had a tea as well... evening had another tea... after the swim had a dinner of half chicken manchow soup, a fried chicken starter, a mushroom based dish, then 2 flat breads with 2 pieces of chicken in a curry... that screwed all the day's efforts... but after my swim was feeling a lil tired and was has some weird sensations in my back, so i always resort to chicken when this happens,... thats why had chicken today... anyway new day tomorrow need to buckle up... big race of 15km coming up this sunday....

Monday its the rest day... last night was hungry after updating the blog entry, so had 2 small mangoes...slept around 1 am... slept very well, woke up at around 12 pm... went to office... no breakfast... lunch had 5 flat breads with Green Peas in a gravy, lentil soup, and little bit of soy... and a small piece of a sweet... had a tea as well... evening had a tea and ate Upma (the boiled semolina flour dish) ... dinner had 3 raw red dates and the remaining 40% of the papaya from last night... going to bed now... got a lot of work to do at office... will wake up early tomorrow and will try to fall into my regular routine... last one week has been pretty good... lets hope i continue...

woke up early for a cycling ride to the near by hill like i did last week... woke up at 5.45 am... went for the ride... did 25 kms almost... took me a good 2 hrs the whole ride... felt great... after yesterday's amazing swim this was great... after the ride had a breakfast of Poha (the flat rice dish)... before that after reaching the mid way point had 5 or 6 biscuits.. had a bread with a spiced potato mash coated with chickpea flour and deep fried... not a great choice i know... lunch had 5 flat breads with carrot dry curry and chickpeas in watery sauce.. evening went for a swim... did only 36 rounds i.e. 900 meters... too many irritating people in the pool... couldnt do more... dinner 6 raw red dates, an apple and 60% of a small popaya... feeling hungry still may have something else before i sleep... may be a small mango....

Day -- 149
Ate a mango before i slept last night... unplanned but i was hungry... slept very late around 3 am... woke up at 11 am... had a lunch of 5 whole wheat flat breads with kidney beans in thin watery gravy, cauliflower dry curry with some lentil stew... wasnt heavy, but wasnt too little either.. then went for running to the gym, did 3 kms in 23 mins... there was one break after 2 kms as i wanted to do 1 km with high intensity... did that last km in 6 mins and 39 seconds... my fastest so far... most of that duration i was running at 10km per hour... then went for swimming... unexpectedly pushed my self and did 140 rounds with no break... thats 3.5 kms... this is crazy my best so far... i did do 204 rounds once before but with a 15 min break... the continues number of rounds i did earlier was 122... and this 140 rounds means i did the Ironman triathlon distance without a break... its still just a 4 feet pool and i was kicking the wall on each round's beginning so those 2 dont exactly make it 3.5 kms in open water...but i will still take it... for someone who didnt knew swimming just 6 months ago... I'm happy where i have reached... i couldnt get this kind of dramatic improvement with my running... may be with all the planned runs i may get better at it... lets hope so... okay dinner had 2 small pieces of carrot, a small mango and one pomegranate... got a long cycling run tomorrow... will sleep now... good day...

Wokeup at 8.15am... getting better at this... went for the run did 3.05 kms in 23mins... pretty quick compared to my usual speed... did 2kms of it in 14mins and 30seconds... rest i did after 1min walking break... then swam for 35mins did 42 rounds or 1.05kms... breakfast after the running and swimming had 2 hard boiled eggs with salt and chilly powder... lunch had 5 flat bread with cauliflower in thin gravy, lentil soup and 3 small pieces of boiled potato in gravy... a small piece of sweet... had 3 teas in the whole day... evening had a rice pancake covered by puree of spinach... for dinner had an apple and a small pomegranate...will sleep soon... not a bad day...

Woke up around 10am this morning,,, little better compared to my recent days... went for running at 11.30am.. did 3 kms in 25mins... 15mins 30 seconds 2kms and the rest was walk and run... then went to the pool, swam 40 rounds... which is 1km... had a lunch of 5 thin whole wheat flat breads, with lentil soup, mix veg curry and spinach and corn curry with a small portion of sweet... had a tea... evening had another tea, around 8pm was very hungry so had a big glass of milk with some corn flakes... dinner had a carrot and a small pomegranate... will sleep soon... getting back on track slowly... and been going to office by my bicycle for the past week... its 500 meters from my place, so its not a big deal to mention it.. hardly 1km per day... feeling good about today...

Having a lot of problem with gas formation after swimming a km or so... reading about ways to avoid it... Lunch had 5 flat breads with lentil soup, chick peas in gravy and mashed vegetables in gravy... a friend brought a nice home made sweet... had some of it.. had one tea in the evening... also had some fried green lentil dough dish... that screwed my day... but couldnt resist it... dinner had 3 pieces and raw dates, an orange and a very small mango... it was so small... going to sleep now...

Woke up late.... couldnt sleep early... Man is a creature of habit and the sleep time of mine has changed to 3am... so cant seep to be able to sleep... and keeping my TV on doesnt help either... no exercise... lunch 5 flat breads with Soy curry and boiled potato in a gravy a small piece of a sweet... couple of teas in the evening... then dinner fruit plate with 5 cookies... not a great day... not very bad either... mediocre days... need to rise above... This is the last 30 odd days activity sheet since i started using Dailymile... recent cycling increased the kilometers to some decent numbers... lets see how the rest of the days go... 35 days to go till the end of 180... got to ram it up...

Wokeup late around 11.30am, watched football match last night... was supporting Argentina... but they lost :( :( :( ... had a lunch of 5 whole wheat flat breads with green beans... evening had a couple of teas... after lunch had a smaller bournville chocolate... dinner had 4 flat breads with mix veg curry and a little cheesy curry of some sort... bad choice that one... no exercise monday is the rest day.... got races lined up... 27th july doing a 15kms race... 10th august doing a 10 or 15km mountain trail race... 24th doing my first Half Marathon,... in a different city... hope my body can take all the toll.... excited about the upcoming days... 30day challenge was a miserable failure... but not too worried about it... time for bed...

Woke up at 6 am... went for the bicycle ride... didnt know the route, it was a way to the foot of a mountain and the terrain was rough... i managed to complete the distance.. it was in total 25 kms both ways... felt great to complete the distance... there were a lot of peaks and slopes... enjoyed it a lot... breakfast had 2 pieces of Idli ( a rice and black lentil steamed cake of sorts) and flattened rice dish called Poha... a small piece of cake and a sweet... big breakfast... was hungry... lunch had a chicken fried rice.. evening went for swimming... swam for 1.5kms in 1hr... dinner had a mango with some dry fruits... got to watch the world cup final few hours... hoping to see Argentina win... lets see how it goes... may have some other fruit if i feel hungry or may be a carrot... feeling good about today... though had some food i shouldnt ideally be having... workout went well... happy about that...

Entry for 07/11/2014 -- slept very late last night about 4am... wokeup at 12.30pm... had a lunch of rice with lentil stew, batter fried vegetables and a double egged omelet... had a tea in the evening... around 8pm went outside office to get my keys... and things got out of control and had a lot of fried stuff... no time for exercise today... before going to bed had some dry fruits... bad day... planing to play badminton tomorrow... lets see if i can pull things backand have some control over food... feeling pretty bad about the way things are going... failed miserably in my 100 days challenge... wasnt able to finish it ... i was far from finishing it... tomorrow is the 30th day... feels like i'm sliding down the slippery slope i'm so familiar with... need to pull my self back up...

Slept after 4am last night after watching 2 exciting football matches from world cup... woke up very very late... had a very nice relaxing sleep... woke up after 2 pm... had rice with lentil stew and shallow fried potatoes... tomorrow 10k race so carbo loading today... went for swim in the evening... swam 2.5 kms.... swimming after a while... after 5 days... nice relaxing day... will go for the run in the morning... enjoying an Argentinian win... just 5mins of stoppage time to go... sure they would defend the 1 goal they have...

Entry for -- 07/04/2014 Was a holiday from work... slept till 11 am..... then just stayed at home till afternoon... then went to buy a bicycle... spent a reasonable amount to buy a good 21 geared cycle... then went to play Badminton with colleagues from office... played for 2 hrs... then went another couple of colleagues for bowling... did bowling for an hour... then went and watched the movie transformers - Age Of Extinction... as usual lot of noise and a lot of CGI... and little substance.... Ate noodles in the afternoon for lunch... dinner had a lot of bad stuff... did some cycling... watched both world cup soccer matches and slept very very late...

Day - 116 --- Rating --- 0
Alright... Monday is here... and the pool is closed... so no swimming today... after all that swimming for past 2 days i had a very sound sleep last night... slept around 1 am and woke up at 11 am... wanted to go running but couldn't really do that... anyway happy with the last couple of days... 1 rest day is very necessary i think... so no serious workouts today... just played serious ping-pong for 2 hrs... ok food... in the morning woke up late so around 12.30 pm, had a small glass of pomegranate juice... caught a bit of cold after all that swimming this morning so didnt want drink that cold juice, but had no other options... lunch had 3 flat breads with green peas in a curry gravy... around 4pm had a tea, then in the evening around 6pm had a tea and a cream roll (bad choice... but was so hungry and craving for some sweet stuff) ... also had a boiled vermicelli dish... another bad choice... dinner had a vegetable hot and sour soup with little bit of dry noodles... thats all for today... not an ideal day ... so rating 0

Day 101 to 115 --- And the trouble strikes !!!
Been a while since i have posted anything here, there is a good reason for that... last 2 weeks have been difficult ones... had so many ups and downs... to begin with, the shifting to new place and hoping to intensify my exercise efforts too a big step back as i started having back pain 2 days after getting here... Since i had a serious serious back problem back in 2011 which lead to a major surgery, i had always been very careful with back pain... i think by now i know when to push on and when to hold back and take rest when i get a back pain of any sort... so this one felt like i need to slow down and take things slow... so first thing i did was to stop the plans of running, then for a few days stopped swimming as well... started eating my usual food without any rules, increased meat and egg intake... not sure why this always helps with my back pain... so after 4 or 5 days i was feeling much better... all this eating created some guilt which kept me away from getting back to the blog... anyway after 3 days started swimming and 3 days ago started running on a treadmill in office gym... things got better after the first 5 days... and i continued my swimming, but the food habit change was like opening of a flood gate its very hard to get back on track once you leave all the rules... so that took a lot of time... good news is my running hasnt gone bad... i started running day before yesterday and that day and yesterday i ran for 35 mins each and 3.3kms on each day .... the amazing thing to share is my swimming form... something amazing happened to me 5 days ago, i found a rhythm in swimming.... and since then my swimming has drastically improved.... its basically to do with the way i breathed, once it got sorted on its own, i could do wonders with swimming... day before yesterday after my 35 min run i swam 144 rounds in that 25meter pool.... can you believe it 144 rounds that is 3.6 kms!!!!!!!!! Even Ironman triathlon has a swimming section of 3.5 kms only... i did 100 meters more !!!!! :) :) :) 44 of those rounds were continues rounds with no breaks.... 2 days before this event i figured out a more relaxed and easy way to breath... it just came to me while i was in a 2hr swimming session... and then it all became so easy... today i did 2 swimming sessions one in the morning and one in the evening... no running today... in the morning i did 120 rounds 50 of which were non stop rounds without a break.... then in the evening went back to the pool again and did 80 rounds... so in total did 200 rounds today thats 5 kms !!!!! That is beyond any imagination i could have ever had when it comes to my swimming abilities.... my per round time has decreased dramatically as I'm doing more continues rounds... yesterday i did on an average 56.7 rounds per hour... today 120 rounds in the morning took me 2hrs and 80 rounds in the evening took me 1.5hrs... this is amazing improvement my previous highest rounds of 102 took me 2hrs and 45mins... compared to this the current timings are amazing... just goes to show you how much the human body can adapt and do amazing things... mine isnt even fit or in shape... Shopping around for a bicycle these day may be in a week will buy one... so that would really put my calorie burning in a different gear... Started an additional challenge for my self... the challenge is to do 100kms of running and 50kms of swimming in 30days .... started this 3 days ago and I'm using something called as a Dailymile website to track my distances... will post them on a weekly basis... food is still an issue... havent got that under control yet... will try hard from tomorrow... alright i think i updated everything... daily updates from tomorrow... things are looking good... I'm very sure that i will breakthrough the 90kg barrier soon... as of now it hasnt changed the machine still shows 90kg when i checked my weight this morning... anyway i'm not bothered about it as long as my running and swimming go well... Finally thanks to the god for keeping me safe and sound and allowing me to do this quest for self respect...

Entry for -- 1st June 2014 --- Okay, 100 days up today... still 80 to go... didnt remember it today... Anyway to the eating... Woke up around 10 am... ate a small 50 gms pack of biscuits for breakfast may be around 11.30 am... it was 200 calories as the pack said so... then we for lunch around 2.30 pm... had what is called a Thali... went to a place that serves the regional cuisine where i'm originally from so i didnt contain my self... its a rare thing to go to that place... so i had plenty of rice, lentil stew, battered and fried cabbage... and so yeah it breaks all rules of the experiment... feeling a little guilty but cant help it now... evening went for swimming and swam for 2.5 hrs... stopped counting rounds these days... feels a little too difficult to do that now... i'm usually lost in swimming, tried it a couple of times but i forget to count as i continue to swim... dinner had 3 very thin whole wheat flat breads with boiled cabbage and coconut... very small amount of yellow lentil stew and raw cucumber and carrots may be 1 piece each along with this... time to sleep now...

Day - 99 Rating 1
Finally the steak of 0's ends... what a relief... had to relocate today to a new place... this is just next to office... so i can go swimming anytime i like...also there is a running group near by and i can reach there cycling... lets see how it turns out... so didnt sleep long last night... started sleeping very late and woke up when the movers and packers was scheduled to come at 9am... but they showed up at 11.20 am... anyway no breakfast... lunch after relocation work, had it at 3.30 pm... had 3 thick flat breads made in Tandoor... with chicken curry and egg... the swam for 2hrs... then had a dinner of lettuce salad and a small piece of roasted bread given with the salad... thats all for the day... it was great and i'm very tired ... time to sleep..

Entry for - 5/30/2014 -- Woke up at 9am... went to office and had brown bread with jam... 2 slices of them... green tea with honey... this was around 12.15 pm... then it all got screwed... well so of... I've messed up my diet today beyond imagination.... But I'm still happy... The video I've made for my organization competed with 24 other videos and came out on top... so it will represent my company now when it competes with 100 other companies... I managed this last year as well so its 2 years in a row for me... very excited and happy about it... so lunch had an egg puff and buttermilk with some fried batter treats .... it only went more berserk from then on.... evening had a samosa, a uthappa and a cream roll... then dinner had a feast with friends for the success of the video... had chicken, rice, flat bread and all the wrong stuff in large quantities... still i'm okay with all mistakes today... great day for my creative pursuits... swam for 50mins... shifting tomorrow to a new place... time for a new beginning... Entry for 05/29/2014 -- Woke up at 9.30 am... didnt anything till i went to office around 11.45 am had a couple of hard boiled aggs... While writing yesterday's entry, i realized that there is too much of bread in my day.... i'm not talking about the flat bread, its a staple diet here and its not baked... so removing bread from my diet today, so i had eggs... then had a green tea with honey... lunch had 3 flat breads with chickpeas in curry sauce... 4 pm had another green tea with honey... then it all went south... went with my colleague to accompany for evening snack... i wasnt planning on eating anything... but had stuff fried and extra fried and all that shit... had something called as a samosa chat, then some deep fried dough called bajji... so all efforts of the day in vain... after this debacle went for swimming swam for 1hr and 15mins... wasnt hungry in the evening so came home without having dinner... felt hungry after midnight... so had a banana... so its a good day gone bad...

Woke up at 915 am... didn't eat anything... went to office and had 2 slices of brown bread with jam... this was around 11.45 am... then had a green tea... lunch at 1.45 pm had 3 flat breads made of whole wheat flour and mix vegetable curry... evening had a green tea, then after some back to back meetings around 7pm had a 2 egged omelette with 2 slices of white bread... then in the night had 3 flat breads with mix vegetable curry... started volunteering for a health and wellness program in my organization... looking forward to be a crucial contributor for this program... lets see... dad got unwell today and he is in hospital... a little worried about that... though i didnt eat anything wrong... i think i ate a little too much than i should and there was no swimming so today's rating is 0 :( :(

Entry for 05/27/2014 -- Started the day by waking up at 8.30 am... had a task to complete and send out the final result to the client onsite... so was looking to get to office and get that work done soon... had a banana in the morning at around 9.30 am... then went to office, 12.00 pm had 2 slices of brown bread with jam... and had a green tea with honey... 1.30 pm had a lunch of 3 thin flat breads made of whole wheat flour with cauliflower curry ( there wasnt any salt or spice in it :( )... worked pretty much constantly to finish my work... then around 3pm had a green tea with honey again... around 5.30 pm went for evening snacks... had scrambled eggs (2 of them) with onions and tomato... with little bit of bread... 8 pm had a black coffee to get on with my work... no sugar... dinner at 9.30 pm had a 2 brown bread slice sandwich stuffed with a hard boiled egg and boiled corn... had a buttermilk at the end... and before leaving office had some pieces of mango... probably half of a small mango... one thing I'm proud of today is I was offered sweets and ice cream today... one of them was by boss who just returned from his hometown... managed to avoid eating the sweets... Happy about it... Working on organizing a talk by my city's running group to our entire organization to encourage more people to take up to running... our company has 2500 employees, so hoping to get some of them into running... lets see how it goes.. didnt swim today, had to work and finish my work... so an okay day... didnt eat anything bad... time to sleep now...

Day - 94 Rating -- 0 :( :(
Slept like hell last night... Best sleep I've had in a while... Woke up at 11.30 am... had a banana for breakfast... then went to office to catch up with some work... This is where everything went south... around 4pm, went to have some lunch... for some reason, wasn't feeling hungry till then... had a 3 slices of brown bread made into a sandwich stuffed with boiled corns and hard boiled egg... then screwed up everything and had 80gms of fried snack... then a buttermilk with some sprinkle with some chickpea flour batter deep fried... then for dinner had to rush as my cab was about to leave so had a deep fried snack called Samosa and an Egg puff... again the buttermilk with that same sprinkle... so a bad day... no workout pool closed on Mondays... little bit of pain in my legs... thy of both legs specially... played ping pong for an hour or so... discovered an artist called Hozier today.... amazing voice and beautiful lyrics... heard his Take Me To Church again and again... amazing talent... A Angelic voice and a Blasphemer at heart of all religions... amazing... inspired me to write something... will do if i can today....

Day 93 Rating -- 1
An epic day... first of all last night's dinner was a bad idea... i had heaviness and uneasiness as i woke up at 4 am to join the run which was at 6 am... Anyway despite of that i made it to the start point on time... my long time target for a 10 km had been to finish it under 90 mins... my first 10 km was on October 6th 2013 was 110 mins, then on 6th December was 96 mins... Then i did a 15 km in 144 mins... o my best till now has been 9.6 mins per 1 km... I havent ran for a month or so... i wasnt sure if i could get it done under 90min... but i did itttttttttttttt.... i finished it in 87mins... it was quite a run today... i ran for the first 30mins, and i covered about 3.5 kms... then i took the first walking break, then i started running quicker... small walking breaks then quick runs for few mins... i crossed the 5 km mark at 44 mins, then came the big shock... from 5.5 km to 7 km mark there was a hill to cross !!!!!!! i had no idea that i was so steep... from 5 km on wards the uphill started and from 5.5 kms on-wards it was a direct climb... there was a proper road and all, but the elevation was a killer... To reach from 5 km to 7 km it took me 21 mins... with just 25 mins left i had to cover 3 kms... but there was a down hill, so i took that chance to cover up the time... i kept running as fast as i could till the down hill was over... took much shorter walking breaks once the down hill was over and continued to run faster... till i saw the finishing line with 5 mins left i wasnt sure if i could finish the race under 90mins... once i saw the finish line, i kept running strong and finished with 3mins left on the clock... was an amazing day... if that uphill wasnt there i could have improved my time even more.. anyway.. extremely happy with the way it all went down... i was a bit more tired than usual, not sure if its the lack of practice or something else... anyway after the race had a powder of electrolyte with water and felt a lot better... then came back home, had a banana.... also had a half of banana while i was running.... had a lot of water... then for lunch had a couple of flat breads with lentil stew and spinach also had some rice... but only a little... finally had a beverage of some sort and an ice cream... then went for a movie... wanted to keep moving the whole day and not stay at home sleeping... during the movie had a bowl of pop-corn and a soft drink... then went for swimming, swam for 2hrs... had a dinner of rice, lentil stew, a curry of some ground vegetable, and a vegetable battered and fried and a chicken fry... thats all for the day... best day probably... lot of exercise, little more carbs then usual, they were necessary... not even the banned food can turn this day to rating - 0... the race day is a no rules day... either way... really a great day... no pains in legs ... at least as of now... enjoyed the day a lot... need to stay on path... one bad thing is i checked my weight again the machine shows 93 today :( :( ... dont know if its broken or what... anyway will check again on tuesday to confirm... Gn for now...

Day 92 Rating - 1
So big day tomorrow, didnt run for a month or so now... doing a 10k tomorrow... lets see how i do... target is to do it under 90mins... being a little light should help my speed... lets see how i go... today is carbs day... Morning wokeup very late, slept till 11.30am... no breakfast... had a late lunch at around 3.30pm... Lot of rice, lentil stew, yogurt, couple of other dishes... dinner had rice pancakes with mix veg balls fried and placed in a gravy.... then a little bit of veg crispy i.e. an assortment of vegetables battered and fried... as today is the day before race, all food is allowed hence the rating 1... looking forward for the run tomorrow... am a little anxious to see how i would do after this long break... time to hit the bed...

Entry for 5/23/2014 --- So 90 days later the second part of the 180 days experiment started today... just checked out my first entry for the 180 days from Feb 16th... So i was 94 when i started this 180 part... After 3 months I have lost 4kgs... Just checked my weight today, its exactly at 90... Not exactly amazing change but I'm happy with it... I have strayed on many days, actually on most of the days, i broke one rule or the other... yet I managed to maintain at 90... with little more discipline I'm sure I can get to 85 soon... Lets see... I'm hopeful... Last night after the blog, i was awake for a couple of hours and had the worst of hunger pangs... the fruit plate burns out so soon, and it showed its effect... I was so hungry that I could have eaten anything, i had a mango at hand, so I ate it... not ideal, but not too bad either.. so i slept around 2 am, woke up at 9 am, went to office, ate 2 slices of brown bread with jam, then a green tea with little bit of honey, this was at 11.45am... lunch went out side of office to a restaurant which we used to frequent earlier... i used to eat like crazy here, but did manage to control myself, and eat only minimal... had 2 flat breads made of wheat flour with 2 small pieces of chicken in a curry gravy, then had 2 tea spoons of rice in lentil stew with some potatoes... the latter 2 were of very small quantity... I have registered for a 10k on Sunday, hence the little bit of rice this was around 2pm... evening had upma the semolina flour boiled in water with few more things, this was at 6pm... also had another green tea and a black coffee... dinner had 3 slice brown bread sandwich with hard boiled egg and corns stuffed in... then had a buttermilk (yogurt mixed with a lot of water).... this was around 11pm... 11.30 had few pieces of mango... may be 1/3rd of a normal mango.... now going for a sleep... I would still rate the day as 1.... need sleep and rest now... gn

Read some of the entries in the blog from the earlier days... Felt good to see through one day without doing something stupid and impulsive... alright woke up at 930am... slept late last night, something i want to avoid going forward... breakfast had 2 boiled eggs only red chilly powder, no salt... had one green tea... this was around 11.45am... lunch at 2pm had 5 flat breads made of whole wheat flour with mix veg curry... evening had a 2 egg omelette with a bread bun... dinner had fruit plate... also had 2 more green teas with honey... so all in all a good day... need to keep going... did an hour of swimming after the evening snacks... happy with the day... Rating for the day is 1.... need more of these...

Day - 89
Alright, I believe I'm at a point with this whole thing where I have reached several times before... The point of giving up... Where making mistakes doesn't hurt your resolve to follow the rules you have set for your self... you take all your actions for granted and all mistakes forgiven and forgotten the next minute... I'm hitting that point, i know because I've been there few times till now... the difference is i have this blog this time, so my task is to Read the blog again and try to recall everything i have been writing, and to restore my resolve... so I'm going to restate all the rules i have set go through my blog to remind my self of what I've set out to do... time to get serious seriously... So here are my rules set way back in Sept 2013 when i was 100kgs... 10kgs later I'm revisiting the rules again now...
- I will not starve myself with weird diet plans...
- Will try to eat as much Fruits and Vegetables as possible...
- Avoid Rice and Oils, Butter, Cheese etc..
- Avoid Baked, Fried, Deep Fried food.
- Take smaller portions, but no limit on number of meals... Starving doesn't help....
- Slowly build up a physical activity plan... Walk, Jog, Run... Don't hit the Gym foolishly....
- Record each days activity in the Blog...
- LAST but NOT THE LEAST.... NO MATTER WHAT .... Stick to the 100 day Experiment..
So i'll rate a day as 1 or 0... If all the rules are followed without a miss, i rate it as 1 else 0... So here we go... lets see how many 1's i get for next 90days...
In addition to the above rules, No TEA.... Green Tea with honey allowed... Now about today...
Breakfast, fruit plate at 11.30am... Lunch 5 small chicken wings in barbecue sauce, then mix veg curry with 3 flat bread made of whole wheat flour... evening had a biscuit packet may be 8 biscuits were there..... dinner had a brown bread sandwich with corn and potato mash... had couple of more teas throughout the day... 1hr of swimming, so not a bad day.... time for bed now... tomorrow onwards things should get a lil intense... lets see if i can sustain it...

Entry for -- 05/20/2014 .... woke up at 9.30, went to office early so i can go for a swim in the evening... breakfast had a egg puff, a tea with a cream roll... not at all ideal... lunch had 3 flat breads, with soy in gravy... evening shared snacks with friends... so had few pieces of multiple things... then swam for an hour no dinner wasn't hungry... all day had 4 teas... needed them to keep me going through the day... an okay day need to get better... i showed the video i made to all the employees who acted in it.... all them said they liked it... lets see if it gets shortlisted by the company... time for bed now....

Entry for -- 05/19/2014.... didn't get time to update the blog, no exercise as the pool was closed... had a good sleep, but doesnt seem to be enough... felt tired after getting home... slept again after getting home... something is wrong... i feel a little down physically for no reason... lets see if i get better soon... food had quite a bit dont have time to recall and write it all, but not a good day as far as i can remember...

Entry for day -- 05/18/2014..... Slept like crazy last night after 40+ hours .... Woke up in the morning around 10am, dad had his second surgery today... it went well... then i had some bad stuff and biscuits and went for a lunch... rice pancakes with fish curry... then swam for 2hrs and 15mins.... for dinner had a soup and a salad of lettuce and other veggies... had a couple of biscuts before sleeping... an alright day... finished my video yesterday and submitted it... need to see how it fares in the competition... time for bed now...

Day 79 to 85
Update on 5-17-2014.....Been a hell of a week.... Sunday swam well, but rest of the week ate like a crazy cat... The food intake went on to increase as i got closer to the deadline for submitting my video... been an eating frenzy.... like the annual migration feast for bears or crocodiles... anyway... today is by far the worst ... its been 35hrs since i've had any sleep... i finished writing, planning and shooting the video on Wednesday, Thursday did some minor remaining part shoot, then made the rock band of our company record a nice song for me... been editing for last 2 days.... worked on it continuously for 22hrs, then tragedy struck, because of some compatibility issues, cant save the edited film into an MP4. Struggling to get it done... anyway happy with the way the film cameout, hope to finish it soon and get some shuteye... otherwise my body will cease to function and force me into a coma or something i guess... no swimming after Sunday... bad bad week... need to check my weight to see how much screwed it is now... anyway all should be over soon... hoping to get out of this bad patch soon....

Day - 78
Entry for -- May 10th 2014... Slept well, woke up at around 10am, had a brunch, made scrambled eggs with 2 onions, one tomato, a medium sized potato and of course eggs, 3 of them... some salt and chilly powder and green chilly... no lunch as I had brunch at around 12... so evening went on house hunting. Trying to move closer to office, for swimming, running and all else... went to a friend's house in the evening, around 6pm, had 80% of an apple and may be 30gms of yellow lentils roasted ( its a ready made snack)... then went swimming, swam for 1hr15mins... then had a dinner of 4 chicken pieces in spicy gravy with 4 flat breads... also had a little snack called papad... so an okay day... not back in the groove yet... lets see how tomorrow goes...

Day - 77
Entry for - May 9th 2014 -- Wasn't exactly an ideal day... didn't exactly go as I planned... had to do something creative today... there is a short film competition in our office for Great Place To Work 2014 official entry... so had to write and think of a concept, talk to people to act and help me make it... strangely was craving for sugary stuff all day... not sure whats the connection anyway... in that aspect everything went well... finished writing, casting and thinking... just got a week to shoot and edit the video... not sure if I can complete it... lets see... needless to say, my diet went all awry... Its too painful to list all the items, but het I got to do it... this is what has been missing for the last 4 weeks causing me to lose control... so here we go... Breakfast an egg puff and a cream roll, then a tea... lunch had 3 flat breads with kidney beans in spicy gravy.. evening, had a tea and few pieces of fried dough... dinner is where I totally screwed up completely, 3 very thin flat breads, with spicy rice, soya in spicy gravy and potato curry... and a sweet, then some fried snack... so that's the long list and a confession of a glutton... anyway, got to get my thinking hats on and get the video done soon... ohhh couldn't swim as well today... will compensate in the weekend...

Day - 76
Slept late last night, so woke up around 9am, hadn't been running for the past 10 days or so... ran only on one day... cant balance my sleeping time and have enough time to run... but have been swimming 5 to 6 days a week... 2 of those 6 are weekends on which I usually swim for 3hrs... so back to today... breakfast had 3 slices of bread and a 2 egg omelet... then a tea... got to stop the tea... lunch had 3 flat breads with okras in a yogurt base... evening ate bits and pieces of some snacks not the planned diet... but sometimes in a social situation cant avoid eating this kind of stuff... anyway finding it hard to get back to the rules of the experiment... got to get back to the plan... then swam for about 1hr and 15mins... dinner had 3 very thin flat bread with soya in spicy gravy and a small piece of sweet... then a butter milk with some pieces of spicy fried stuff... about 10gms may be... anyway I can see how this all seems very much unlike someone trying to lose weight... I know ... will try to get back on track...
Day - 75
Until May 7th 2014 -- Well its hard to get back to the blog... last 5 weeks have been hard... Lot of roaming around hospitals, experts and all that... anyway back to my base town 10days ago... haven't exactly been following the rules of the experiment strictly ... but in these last month I had put on 2 to 3 kgs, but lost most of it again... Managed to run on 9 days... swam for 8 days... 3 of which were long runs of 2 hours or more... all of the runs at around 30mins running and 1hr walking...ate a lot of carbs and there were no restrictions on food as it wasn't possible... so back to the experiment now... will start getting back to the routine... but have to travel again in few days to get my dad through the second surgery... lets see how it goes... will update from tomorrow on a daily basis... Need to work extra hard once all this is over so that I can hit my targets on weight... as of now I'm 91... got my LIPID profile done couple of days back... everything is in limits.. will post numbers tomorrow... time to sleep now...

Day - 46 to 60
Life can change in a moment and it did for me in these past few days... I had few plans for these days... but god had some other.. I had to travel to my home town to take care of my dad who is suffering from Kidneys issues... so away from the experiment... will try my best to run on few days... but not sure how it will workout... right now trying to talk to experts and get some tests done see the extent of damage to his kidneys... will be away from the blog for next few days... hope not to gain too much of weight in these 2weeks...

Day - 45
Didn't want to wake up even at 9am... was feeling very sleepy... anyway woke up, went to office early... couldn't go swimming in the evening due to the summer heat and also had work to take care of... breakfast had 2 hard boiled eggs with a little chilly powder and salt... this was around 11.45am... lunch had 3 flat bread with some mix veg curry... evening had half of a mini burger and a small piece of fried snack called bread Pattice... its basically white bread slice, cut diagonally into 2 pieces, a mixture of boiled potato and few other vegetables mashed and sandwiched between the bread slices... then the whole unit dipped into chickpea flour and deep fried in vegetable oil... I had about 20% of it... its very small in quantity... then went for the swim... did swimming for about an hour and 15mins... did 42 rounds... felt a little awkward and strained during the swim... been away from the pool for few days may be that's the reason... dinner had a red pear, some muesli cornflakes no milk... hoping for a sound sleep...

Day - 44
Slept a little late, woke up at 9am... went to office early but couldn't go for the swim... had a lot of work and the summer is here so its a big problem to go for swimming... breakfast had a 2 egg omelet with 2 slices of white bread... lunch, had a double egged chicken roll... not at all a good choice... need to get back on track... this is the problem with long runs... u have to eat well at least for couple of days before the run and u eat well for 2 or 3 days after the run... they aren't good for weight loss, unless you train for these long runs on a daily basis... anyway I had the final cricket match today... I played well, took my team to the edge of victory but couldn't get us over the line.... we lost by 4 runs... anyway its no big deal... dinner had 3 thin flat bread with some rice and lentil soup, lady finger's and potato curry and some spice soup with some sort of sweet... no exercise and marginally bad eating... need to get back to the healthy road...

slept alright last night, but had to wake up early around 7am to go for a blood test... this is a planned visit for some preplanned treatment of my hair... so went there got it over with... then went for breakfast and something amazing happened... someone walked up to me and started asking me if I remembered him... the face looked familiar, but I couldn't remember his name or where we had met... so he refreshed my memory, he was a classmate of mine from my engineering days... so we had breakfast and tried catching up.... I had a breakfast of the rice pancake and orange juice... then had a tea with that friend after an hour... we went and picked up a gift for my friend who recently got married... then we bid adieu after exchanging numbers... But the day of surprises and coincidences didn't just end there... just as I finished sending him off with a big gift in my hands, I got a call from the same friend for whom I got the gift... I picked up the call with a smile, and it got even more wider when my friend asked me why was I carrying a gift... she was in the same area at the time and saw me holding the gift I was going to give her while driving by... so the day of unexpected events continued pleasantly ... we met spent few hours catching up had our lunch together and then I came back to office around 4pm... we had not met for about more than 2 months, it was wonderful this accidental meeting... I gave her the gift then and there... lunch had the half of veg manchow soup, then some veg fried rice and some noodles with some Manchurian balls in thick sauce... so that's not a bad lunch... I guess... didn't eat too much the portion were very small... evening screwed a little and had some fried snack, not hungry for dinner, may have a pear before hitting the bed... a very nice day with a lot of surprises and wonderful time spent with friends... enjoyed the day a lot... our final league match tomorrow, we aren't qualified for next round so will just play tomorrow for fun... looking forward for my swim also tomorrow... feeling a little heavy like I have gained weight need to check it tomorrow... hoping for a nice sleep...

Day - 42
Big day, couldn't sleep last night, excited and mosquitos are the reasons... slept for about 3 hrs, woke-up very early around 3.30am... then got ready and went for the run... run started at 6am... started slowly... I haven't been running for about a month now its all been about swimming... so was a little skeptical if I could finish the 15k which I was running for the first time... so wanted to run without a break for as long as I could... the best I have done before was 52 mins, so was hoping to do atleast 40 to 45mins... the race was a big lap, starting point to the midway point, then back to the starting point... so I was able to run non stop (but extremely slowly) for 1hr 11mins and 25seconds... so that's 71mins... longest I have ever ran... I covered almost 8 to 8.5kms... from then on, did the walk-run walk-run things... so its been a good run... felt exhausted after the run... will update this post with run times and walk run timings ... all in did it in 144mins... pretty alright for a first time I guess... happy with the run... knees are hurting, used ice to reduce the pain, but it still hurts... should be good in a day or two... so food, before the run had one dry fruit, the during the run had lemon based drink, lot of water... then after the run had 5 biscuits, then one coconut water... then came back home, had the usual after run headache, had an apple around 11am... lunch had some rice with beetroot and yellow lentil stew... drank water regularly, slept for couple of hours in the evening... then ordered dinner from outside, had plans of going for swimming, but knees are too painful, so didn't dare to go out... dinner had big serving of fish curry with 4 rice pancakes and 2 wheat flour flat breads... heavy dinner... but needed to eat well as my lunch was also a normal one... so tomorrow rest day, then day after swimming and got a cricket match as well... lets see how body will react tomorrow.. time for bed.. a great day, my first 15k run proved to be very enjoyable...

Day - 41
no swimming, no running... rest day... so took good rest, stayed home except for 30 mins for buying some vegetables.... slept very late last night around 4am, indulged in watching some TV after a long time... woke up around 10.30am... had some milk and a couple of dry fruits, then prepared lunch rice, yellow lentils in cabbage, two egg omelet and beetroot boiled with some onions and tomatoes... evening had some black grapes, dinner going to have the same as lunch... need to wake up at 4am and go for the run... going to sleep early.... looking forward to tomorrow... if I can finish the 15k without running for months... it would help my confidence in attempting a half marathon... lets see how it goes...

Day - 40
couldn't get up early enough to run... so I guess I will be running 15k on Sunday without any practice... that's alright I guess... had a breakfast of muesli and some milk.... went for the swim, did only 20 rounds in 30mins... felt little uncomfortable today during the swim... not sure but I cut it down to 20 rounds before it became worse, also had to play a cricket match today, so needed to save some energy... lunch had 2 flat bread, rice, yellow lentil stew, with some egg plants dipped in chickpea flower batter and fried... then had a green tea with honey in the evening... played my cricket match, it was with the toughest team in the league..... we had no chances of winning, but we played very well as a team... I bowled surprisingly well, actually I bowled a maiden over without giving a single run to the best batsman in the league... go figure.... we contained them to an average score but couldn't chase the target... they had a very good bowling attack... anyway we came out feeling good about the way we played... one more match left to be played next Tuesday... lets see how it goes.... dinner came back home and cooked some oats with some vegetables, salt and chilli powder... not a bad day considering that I am trying to carboload... may be that's just the excuse my mind is making either way tomorrow is a rest day... hoping for some rest...

Day - 39
Didn't eat anything else last night... slept a little late around 1.30am... woke up at 9am, went to office before that had a breakfast of Muesli cornflakes with milk... Did swimming for 1hr, did 40 rounds... feeling very exhausted these days with even 40 rounds of swimming.... not sure the reason... had a cricket match in the evening so had a nice carb-full lunch of chicken fried rice, the quantity was huge, had it and also had a flat bread and a small piece (about 1/6) of a roll... heavy lunch... finished with buttermilk... its very hot summer here, so buttermilk will feature frequently in my diet from now on... didn't eat anything else in the evening... played the cricket match... didn't bowl well, but fielded very well, took a stunner of a catch and batter very well to get us over the line... this is our team's first win... we were all ecstatic... didn't have anything for dinner yet... planning oats with vegetables and some corn... need to run tomorrow not sure if I can get up early enough to run... have to try... big day sunday... need to run once before that...

Day - 38
Something happened last night, I was watching some video and clicked on an audition of someone called Sam Bailey on youtube and got hooked... saw all her videos till 3.30am... absolutely fabulous individual this woman, mesmerizing voice and she won the Xfactor... she made my day... watched her sing while eating some puffed rice and chickpea flour batter in thin shreads deep fried :( ....so slept very late, didn't go for the run... couldn't go for the swim as well as I had a lot of work at office... went early there but got stuck with work... played tt for 30mins... back to regular diet... didn't have any breakfast, but around 12 had a glass of buttermilk... lunch had some rice with yellow lentils and spinach.... evening went on a little binge, had a butter milk, some snack called paani puri and some onions fried in chickpea flour.... dinner had a pear... may have something to eat depending on my mood before sleeping... feeling very tired no proper sleep last night... need to exercise tomorrow... ohhh weight update... its been at 90 for almost 10days now... just 15more to lose... taking it in small steps.... 5 in next 3 months... lets see

Day - 37
slept a little late.... I guess the lack of swimming had its effect... usually when I swim for long, I get a good sleep... anyway woke up at 8, prepared vegetables, carrot, cauliflower, beet root, green pepper and oats, boiled with a pinch of salt, packed it for lunch and for evening... then packed 3/4th of an apple. Breakfast had a red pear and 1/4th of an apple... then went for the swim, did 40 rounds only in 1hr and 5mins... but did 2 rounds at a time, almost with out stopping... this was completely different from 1 round and a 30second breather... so this was exhausting... then had a lunch of oats and viggies I have packed... evening got a kind of invitation to run on Sunday with my city running group... so I have decided to push myself and wander into unchartered territories.... Instead of my usual 10k I will be doing a 15k... have been feeling a little down because of this new diet I guess... anyway need rice if I'm to run this Sunday... so dinner had rice, lentils, and a chutney... had a full meal... felt bad to break the diet, but I cant do a 15k on this new diet... so back to basic diet for few days... played cricket match for 1hr, lost the match, I played badly :( ... Played Ping pong for 35mins... Will try to run tomorrow morning... need to get back into running now....

Day - 36
Slept well last night... Monday pool closed so wokeup late and didn't have any breakfast but at 11am had cucumber and a couple of black grapes... prepared vegetables and boiled them in water, packed them in 2 boxes for lunch and evening snacks... the ones used were, 1 beetroot, 2 carrots, slice of cabbage, some cauliflower, capsicum (bell pepper) and green peas.... had the remaining liquid after taking out the boiled vegetables at 12... then went to office, had for lunch a half soup of veg hot and sour and had one box of vegetables I took from home... played 1.5hrs of intense ping pong(TT) then in the evening had some black grapes... couldn't eat dinner in office due to work... but played an hour of cricket... by the time I got back home, I still had a box of veggies, I couldn't imagine eating them just like that, so boiled them a little with some oats and added some salt (tried avoiding it but my tongue was literally dying for it) ... was also feeling a little down so having this now before my sleep... a good day, a little disappointed with the end but its alright, I got to swim tomorrow need some energy so i'll consider this day as a good one...

Day - 35
Another day of long sleep... woke up around 10am after 10hrs of sleep... felt great... around 12 had oats and dry fruits with a little bit of honey like yesterday... Then went for the swim around 4pm... felt a little hungry so had a salad, Jamaican Jerk Chicken Salad... it was nice, but felt a little heavy while swimming... swam for 3hrs and did 82 rounds... a little slow, but I was taking it slow, talking to people in the pool, teaching someone to swim... all in all happy with it... this is my second highest total first being 102.... then 3rd is 80, 4th 71 and 5th 66.... after the swim went and bought some vegetables and fruits... will continue to pack my lunch and dinner for weekdays... happy with the day... oh after the swim had a veg hot and sour soup for dinner... so finally it feels like I have earned for myself some cheap unhealthy snack :) ... going to eat it now while watching the 3rd episode of SPACE... feeling amazing... hope to continue this good run.... will go for a run tomorrow morning if I wake up early enough...

Day - 34
slept very well last night, wokeup around 11am, cooked oats with honey and dry fruits, no sugar, salt or milk... contrary to my expectation, it tasted awesome... then watched a CD I bought (Sam Neil's scientific series called "SPACE " .... :) ... its alright not as impressive as The Wonders Of the Universe by Brian Cox... will watch the rest of the episodes only saw the first one... may be I'm being too quick on my judgment lets see... then went for swim, swam for 2.45 hrs, did 71 rounds... felt a little more exhausted than usual days... had a dinner of hot and sour chicken soup, with Greek Salad... it had lettuce, bell peppers, onions, tomato, black olives with vinegar dressing... felt hungry after coming home so had some black grapes... now going to bed after one more episode of SPACE .... feeling good about the last 3 days..... hope to continue this...

Day - 33
Slept late last night, playing Facebook Game as there was a happy hour (bonus points)... So slept late, but slept very well, felt relaxed after I woke up.. Woke up at 8.10am, prepared my lettuce salads, some white grapes and the 7 types of dry fruits... packed them all to office... milk I had went bad, so had about 75gms of muesli cornflakes without milk... then went to office for the swim... swam for an hour and 45mins and did 62 rounds that's 1550meters... Was a little tiring, but enjoyed it... lunch had lettuce salad with honey dressing... evening had a green tea... Had a cricket tournament in my office, intra business unit matches, so had to play a match.... needed some energy so had Upma (semolina flour) dinner had a lettuce salad again, half of the quantity that I had for lunch... played the match well, but we lost... no big deal... enjoying life that the GOD has so generously bestowed upon me...

Day - 32
Didn't sleep much last night, but woke up by 8am... Been planning to carry food from home and not eat anything from office cafeteria or the restaurants... so packed 3 boxes, first one -- Iceberg Lettuce 30% of a whole lettuce with a dressing of orange juice and honey with some orange pulp, second box was of grapes black and green ones, may be 25 of each... medium sized ones... third box was of 7 different dry fruits and nuts ... all in very very small quantity (3 to 10 of each) need to search for all their names in English so will update this tomorrow... So breakfast had 500ml of milk with muesli cornflakes... cornflakes quantity was very less... Then went for the swim, swam for 1hr and 45mins and did 60 rounds... that's 1.5kms... enjoyed my swim very much today, tried varying my pace, changing speed of my legs and doing 2 rounds without my usual 20second breather... Felt good.. Lunch had a veg Hot and Sour soup (only thing I ate from outside food also only cooked food I had today) then had a single small piece of chicken, then my salad of lettuce... Evening had those dry fruits and nuts, then around 7pm had the grapes... 11pm had a pear... that's all the food today... also played TT for 30mins... so very good day... hope to repeat it often in the days to come...
Day - 31
Entry for 03/19/2014 -- used mosquito coils last night and slept well though slept late... removed swimming from my schedule just for today to rest my body (it gave a lot of red flags yesterday after the 70th round).... so slept well... coils worked well no mosquitos last night... such a relief... didn't have any breakfast, lunch had some thinly sliced chicken in spicy sauce and some goat(mutton) also made the same way with some bread... evening felt hungry so again had a craving for bad stuff and the bad stuff found me... not an evening of any redeeming factors or qualities... better be forgotten... I see that the days I don't swim or run... I tend to get more reckless and indulgent... also seems like I'm becoming a little more complacent as the people around me seem to notice the weight loss now... got to get myself under control... my weight keeps oscillating between 91 and 92... planning to take it below 90 in a week's time... lets hope I get there... so a good day ruined by an evening filled with cravings and I succumbed to the momentary indulgence .... need to get more strong... looking forward for tomorrow's swim...

Entry for 03/18/2014 --- slept alright last night, woke up at 9am, went to office by 10.15am... had a breakfast of milk and muesli cornflakes while I was on my way to work... then had an amazing 2hr and 45mins of swimming... I did (Drum rollllllllsssssssssssssssss) 102 rounds that 2550 meters.... felt amazing... had some pains here and there after 70th round onwards... but managed to keep the pain in check and finished the target... for lunch had a full meal of 3 flat bread, rice and 2 eggs in a gravy, yellow lentil soup and some gravy of another kind, and a small piece of dessert... felt amazing to finish the target... evening had a green tea, dinner had a pear with some white grapes... an amazing day...

Entry for 03/17/2014 -- tried updating the blog, couldn't going through some personal issues and not getting enough time to do anything else... anyway Monday hence no swimming... slept alright... needed that sleep, mosquitos are still wrecking havoc, need to find a solution.. I guess I need some mosquito coils... okay food, breakfast had some brown bread with honey and jam... lunch don't remember exactly, but don't think ate anything bad on this day... dinner had a pear and before that around 7pm had upma, need some good sleep... planning to do well in the pool tomorrow...

Entry for 03/16/2014 -- woke up a little late not enough of peaceful sleep... mosquitos are continuing their terror reign... need some remedy for this... Had couple of bread slices then went for the lunch party... and as expected there was a banquet... had chicken, rice, potato curry, desserts and a lot more stuff... was there till the evening, then on that full stomach went for swimming... swam for an hour and half and could only do 40 rounds... then went back home and on my way back, bought some corn flakes, fruits, veggies, green tea and stuff of that sort... Had a ready to eat salad for dinner... stomach is a little upset with today's excessive eating... so have to balance my diet tomorrow...

Entry for 03/15/2014 -- Slept till 10am, didn't get enough sleep, problems with mosquitos... There is a seasonal change here, this season is the party time for mosquitos... have some liquid repellent placed in my room, but it seems useless... Anyway cooked some lunch, rice and yellow lentil stew with ginger pickle... ate a lot like I used to 6months ago... in the evening went for a swim... swam for almost 2hrs but did only 50 rounds... taking it slow to do more rounds tomorrow... on my way back home, bought brown bread, honey and milk... for dinner had 6 or 7 slices of bread with honey and with yellow lentil stew... slept a little late... have to attend a lunch party at boss's home... I'm sure i'll be stuffed after that lunch... hospitality here means force feed u r guests till they beg u not to serve them anything more... so I'm sure i'll be screwed tomorrow...

Entry for 03/14/2014 -- Friday last day of the week, went early to office for the swim... had a rice pancake, felt a little heavy while swimming... did 50 rounds... then had a lunch of Hot and Sour soup, some fish and one flat bread, 4 tea spoons of rice... Evening is where all got screwed... went on a binge and ate a lot of fried snacks coated in chickpea flour and deep fried... that screwed up everything... think I had some milk and cornflakes for dinner... don't exactly remember this... bad end to the week...

Day - 25
Entry for 03/13/2014 -- Slept around 1am and slept till 9.15am... So a good night sleep and I feel great... went for the swim swam for an hour and 5mins and did 40 rounds... this is the quickest I have ever done 40 rounds... for breakfast had a double egg omelet with some bread... Had a lunch of egg sandwich... 2 eggs and 3 brown bread slices... evening had a upma, dinner had some rice with yellow lentil soup and okra curry... little bit more food than I would have preferred but I'm alright with it... need to improve my breathing technique... will try from tomorrow... Time to sleep...

Day - 24
Last night slept very late ... around 4am... few more problems of the heart... should be ending soon... I hope that they do.... So I wasn't planning on swimming today, but I woke up at the usual time, so went to the pool... Took it a little easy, did only 32 rounds in 1hr.... had a breakfast of rice and black lentil pan cake (DOSA) .... Then had a banana milk shake as I was feeling a little hungry and burned out... all this was before the swim... An hour after the swim, had my lunch 2 thin flat breads, and a little more rice than I should have... With yellow lentil stew with some spinach, some fried potato, kidney beans in spicy sauce... A pretty heavy lunch, left office early to get some rest, for dinner had milk and cornflakes, muesli and normal ones mixed.... planning to sleep around 11pm... an okay day... need some sleep... hope to get it today....
Day - 23
Entry for 03/11/2014 -- Cramps and pains in the legs... cant believe that all my running was forgotten by my body so soon... Not sure how much I can swim today... Went to office early by 2.5hrs as usual... So went to the pool, did 50 rounds... feet still hurt... but I guess its foolish to think you can loose weight without some cramps and body pains... Got to take it in the stride and move on... just hope that I don't break myself beyond the point that my body can take... Have made the same mistake before once don't want to do it again... Enjoyed my swim today, did the 50 rounds 1250 meters in 1.5hours... that's kind of fast compared to my usual speed... but I did it very leisurely, trying to get into that elusive lazy elegance .... Before the swimming had a breakfast of Upma (the semolina flour cooked in water) ... Lunch had a full meal, 3 flat bread, spiced rice with spinach soup in cottage cheese and a mixed veg curry... Evening had 70 grams of peanuts... no dinner... will eat some cornflakes now... its pretty late... done with updating the blog... so will sleep in till late tomorrow and no swimming tomorrow... need some rest, my feet hurt and I feel tired... so going to take some rest...

Entry for 03/10/2014 -- Last night's pizza really bothered me and what's more is that today was Monday that means the pool is closed today... There was no way to spend the pizza calories.... the cake, dessert ... I woke up around 6am.... now I had to go for a run to spend away that dinner.... Its been a while since I ran... I've been pretty used to it earlier and a 5km run seemed challenging.... that is considering that I did 80 rounds in the 25 meter pool 12hours ago... So I started running, was able to finish 5kms in 40mins and 28seconds... but it was one of the most gruesome and physically punishing run I have ever had to do... For the first time in my life I felt that I might just pass-out at any point from the 3rd to the 5th kilometer... My shoulders started to hurt so bad... it was grueling... I was thinking of a triathlon... and thought I could do it... But I have a long way to go... I have a new found respect for triathletes now... I'm proud to have finished the 5kms... it wasn't easy at all... had a breakfast of milk and cornflakes.... Later went to office, for lunch had a fruit plate ( a plate of papaya, watermelon, musk melon, pine apple and half a banana).... Evening I was still hungry had a couple of boiled eggs... Around 7pm was still hungry had 3 small idlis (the steamed snack) .... dinner had 3 rice in yellow lentil and spinach stew... my feet started to hurt by the evening... played a lot of Table Tennis more than 2 hours of it... all in all a good day...ate a little too much may be, but none of it was bad stuff.... All in all happy with the day... But feel a little tired... need a good night's sleep...

Entry for 03/09/2014 -- Alright the D-day... Woke up a little late... there are plans for the evening surprise party so cant go for swimming in the evening... So I went in the afternoon, for lunch had a soup of sweet corn soup, then had a salad of lettuce in mayonnaise dressing... after lunch started swimming, by the evening around the party time when I had to go there, I was done with 80 rounds in 2.5 hours... so that's 2kms ... pretty happy with it, could have finished 100 if I had more time... but there will be another Sunday... I went to that friend's place had some cake... then as it got late and we needed to have dinner so everyone decided to order Pizza, garlic bread with a small chocolate lava cake... there is this social situation where for the past few years everyone in your friends is accustomed to your eating habit, and kind of enable your eating/feeding... They don't intend to do it on purpose... its just how they have know you to be.... so this was one of those situations, where I had to eat more than what I would have liked as my friends rely on me to finish the food :(... its incredibly foolish of me to eat more, in fact I ate the extra piece of pizza on my own.... no one forced me to, they just indicated that I could try one more and I jumped at the occasion ... that dinner really burdened my guilt... slept late... not a bad day I guess, except for the pizzaaaa !!!!!

Entry for 03/08/2014 -- Woke up a little late... friends made some plans for the evening to go out with them... So tomorrow 100 rounds challenge in the pool, so planning to take it easy today, so no swimming today... Had a packet of 5 grain biscuits (6 of them) in the morning... Around 4pm had a cream roll (puff pastry roll stuffed with chocolate flavored cream), wada pav (bread, potato mash dipped in chickpea flour and deep fried) and a samosa (a potato mash covered in rolled whole wheat flour pastry then deep fried)... Bad stuff but had no option as I was away from civilization at this point.... So had no other go... not to mention I was very very hungry... Went out with friends in the evening for a long drive, then had a dinner of some chicken starter ( think it was Chilly Chicken) shared with 2 others... Had a spinach soup, then some noodles.... Waiting for tomorrow... have some plans for the day (need to visit a friend's place to celebrate his b'day ... its a surprise party :) ).... Trying to squeeze in my swim...need at least 3.5hrs to finish 100 rounds.... lets see...

Day - 19
Entry for 03/07/2014....So woke up as usual at 9am... went to office and swam for 1hr and 45mins... Did 52 rounds... confirmed about the dimensions of the pool today... its a standard 25meters by 15 meters pool... so that goes to 1300 meters.... I'm pretty happy with that... hope to continue doing this.... Breakfast was a thin rice pancake (dosa) ... Lunch a veg hot and sour soup, one flat bread cooked in an oven with 4 small cube pieces of fish cooked in tandoor... Evening had a green tea and had a snack called Misal Pav, its piece of bread and crispy fried thin slices of chickpea flour batter in a spicy gravy... Its not too good as per my rules, but it isn't too bad either... Around 10.30pm I got hungry so ate a packet of (6) 5 grain biscuits... kind of got lost towards the end of the day... looking for a longer swim tomorrow...Sunday planning on doing 100 rounds,.... lets see how it goes...

Day - 18
Entry for -- 03/06/2014..... Slept alright last night, but for some reason woke up around 8.30am... went to office 2.5hrs early for my swim... Before the swim had a breakfast of 3 small IDLI (a steamed bun of sorts made from Rice flour and black lentil flour) and 1 small wada (black lentil paste deep fried in vegetable oil)... A lil heavy but wanted to have a good breakfast... swam for 1hr 45mins... and completed 52 rounds lengthwise... was a good effort... had a lunch of Veg HOT and SOUR soup and 1flat bread with mixed veg curry.... also had a piece of another flat bread, may be 25% of it... had a green tea in evening.... around 5pm went for a farewell party of one of my friends from office... so ate a little bad stuff.. a sliver of chocolate cake, brownie, some bread... some cheese was also there... 8pm was feeling hungry so had a biscuit packet which had may be 8 or 9 cookies... didn't have anything else... bit of a bad day in terms of food... really looking forward for good day tomorrow/... not too unhappy about today though... weighing after swim, seems like I may be lost another kg... wont check until I feel I have gotten into 80s... waiting for the swim tomorrow.

Entry for 03/05/2014 -- Slept around 1:00am last night, woke up at around 9am... 8hrs of sleep, still didn't seem enough today.... anyway had to go out with a friend of mine to help her with something, so no swimming, no breakfast as well... by the time it was all over it was 2.30pm and I was damn hungry... it had been almost 19hrs since I ate anything... so I ate a more than usual lunch... but didn't stuff my self too much... had 3 flat breads with some rice and yellow lentil stew... also with some potato curry, mix veg curry, and a small piece of a sweet... sounds like a lot, but all are in small quantities... had 2 green teas in the evening... then in the evening had a lot of work to do, and I needed a normal tea, so had one... dinner had some rice in lentil stew and with some soya beans in curry sauce... so lot of work, little more food than I would have liked, no exercise and a lot of work... looking forward for my swim tomorrow...

Day - 16
Entry for 03/04/2014 -- Slept very very very late last night... around 5am... problems of the heart again... but anyway woke up on time rushed to office... went there at 10.30am... had a breakfast of double egg omelet with some bread... lunch had some rice with yellow lentils and some beans and few potatoes... evening had a green tea with honey... around 7pm, had a upma (semolina flour dish boiled in water) ... nothing else in the night... In the morning went for the swim from 11.30am to 1pm... did 44 rounds so a little more than 1km... Not a bad day... but need some sleep... its already 1am... so have to hit the bed now...
Day - 15
Entry for 03/03/2014 - After that amazing swimming session yesterday, I was feeling great.... and slept till late... had a bad thought of celebrating that effort and I did that in the worst way... I didn't have breakfast Pool is closed on Mondays so no swimming... and went out for lunch with my buddies... and as much as it pains me... I must list all the shit I ate... that's the point of this blog... I need to admit to myself what I've done wrong... so here it goes... The restaurant is a nice one in front of my office, pretty diverse menu... had a soup to start with, Sea food soup, starter had a sesame chicken, fried pieces of chicken rubbed in sesame seeds, then had 5 chicken wings covered in sweet BBQ sauce... for main course had some burnt garlic fried rice with Burmese curry, had some Szechwan Noodles.... then the restaurant offered a Lebanese dish kind of a wrap with chicken stuffing as a complimentary dish... so that's the lunch... its just a keyhole peep into what I used eat for lunch regularly for quite a few years... at least 2 or 3 times a week... That should have screwed up my yesterday's swimming efforts and the calorie loss... But I'm not too sad... tomorrow I'll swim again and will fight the habit again... that's just how it goes for an addict... I always believed that gluttony is also an addiction... so the root cause I guess is the screwed up reward mechanism in my head... anyway enough of rambling... didn't eat any dinner... rather couldn't eat any... I'm not too disappointed about today... I guess its alright... one day of stupidity... looking forward to swimming tomorrow...

Day - 14
Entry for 03/02/2014 -- Slept late last night, after some heavy phone call running into hours... little bit of heart problems again... anyway that caused the slip up last night... Today is a fresh day... slept long into the day... almost till afternoon.... Lunch had a very late one, around 3.30pm... had a veg hot and sour soup, then 2 flat breads, a dry curry of cauliflower and potato, left out most of the potatos and had cauliflowers.... Had a buttermilk to finish off... then swam for 2hrs and 45mins... did count properly today and drum rollllll I did 66 rounds length wise... and 4 rounds width wise... so in total swam 1.6 kms.... yeeehhhaaaawwww.... For the first time my hand muscles feel sore... that's a good thing I guess... enjoyed the swim very much... tomorrow the pool is closed as its Monday... So after and before the swim had a green tea with honey... dinner had a salad of lettuce, tomato, peppers and chicken... loved the healthy dinner... so all in all a good day... have to make sure I eat breakfast also, will try to do that from tomorrow... lets see... 3 good days... feeling great... Ohhh also been checking my weight, I'm at 92 now... lost 2kgs... just 2 kgs away from my short term target of getting into 80's... sure I can do it soon....
Day - 13
Entry for - 03/01/2014 -- After yesterday, I was really looking forward to the Saturday swim, usually I spend 3hrs, but there is a lot of idle time, so I wanted to see how much I can push my self... also today is another best friend's b'day so there was a lunch party and I had a heavy heavy lunch... tried white wine, two sips... it was yuuuuuukkkkkkkkkkk.... so that's my first real tryst with alcohol... I guess I'm not going to try that eveeer again... Food food... foooddd... there was plenty... Had some Malacca street dish made of chicken and wrapped in a beetle leaf... Then had few pumpkin chips... then tofu fried... Then chicken fried rice, veg fried rice and a delicious noodles in a curry sauce called Burmese noodles... then a chocolate mouse cake of some sort for dessert... so a grand number of calories... Then swam for 2.5 hours... again did length only... 6 or 8 width wise rounds only rest over the length... but lost count after 22, I probably did about 45 to 50 rounds... enjoyed the swim, breathing technique isn't perfect yet, but its getting there, slowly... Dinner had very very thin flat bread with potato and lentil curry... But got hungry in the night as I was awake late into the night, so had ready made noodles... that's a slip up... looking forward for tomorrow...
